INSTITUTIONAL PHILOSOPHY

VISION

The Bachelor of Science on Office Management Program (BSOM) envisions to generate globally competitive
graduates with high degrees of professionalism and who can usher themselves towards optimum work productivity in
all the functional areas of business.

MISSION
The thrust of Bachelor of Science in Office Management is to:
1) Continuously provide highly competent instructors equipped with suitable trainings and seminars and
research undertakings;
2) Constantly revitalize the curriculum to be at par with the needs of evolving global market in office
administration;
3) Ensure that high-end facilities and equipment are available and adequate for the students;
4) Establish linkages and networking with industries to supplement professional growth among its students and
teaching force; and
5) Develop students’ self-confidence, self-respect and the attitude of valuing social responsibilities and good
moral/value system more than anything else.

COURSE TITLE: Basic Finance
CREDIT UNITS: 3 units (3-hours lecture/week)
PRE-REQUISITES: BAcc213
COURSE DESCRIPTION: This introductory course to the world of business and finance deals with the nature, types,
rationale and dynamics of business. It is also an introductory
course on managerial and cost accounting, controllership, financial and profit
planning, budgeting, analysis and interpretation of financial statements. It considers
the environment in which the business enterprise exists: economic, legal-political,
social, cultural and physical. The discussions cover the following topics: overall view
of the Philippine Financial System, monetary and credit management and current
developments and issues related to these areas: impact of government policies on the
financial system especially in relation to money, banking and interest rates; financial
markets in general and the various financial institutions; different types of financial
instruments’ and the development of banking and other financial institutions.
