(One node act as the MN (Master Node) and the other as the SN (Secondary Node) The MN and SN are connected via a network interface and at least the MIN is connected to the core network. Dual connectivity scenarios - 1, MR-DC in case of 46 core network (EPC) - E-UTRAN supports MR-DC via €-UTRA-NR Dual Connectivity (EN.0C), in which a UE is connected to one eNB that acts as MN and one en-gNB that acts as a SN. The eNBis connected to the EPC via the St interface and to the en-gNB via the X2 Interface. The en-gNB might also be connected to the EPC via the S1-U interface and other en-gNBs via the X2-U interface. The EN-DC architecture isillustrated in Figure - 2. For bearers requiring SCG radio resources, this procedure is used to add at least the first cell of the SCG. This procedure can also be used to configure an SN terminated MCG bearer (where no SCG configuration is needed). Figure below shows the Secondary Node Addition procedure.
