A BEAUTIFUL MIND

Stephen William Hawking was born on January
8, 1942 in Oxford, England. When he was eight,
his family moved to St. Albans, a town about 20
miles north of London. At eleven, Stephen went
to St. Alban’s School, and then he went on to
Oxford University, his father’s old college. (1)___b

instead. After three years, he received a first-class
honors degree in physics. Then, in 1962, Stephen

ALS. Although doctors said that he could not live
more than two years, he completed his doctorate.
