Q8) Define the following terms:


(i) Kirchhoffs Voltage Law, (ii) Kirchhoffs Current Law, (iii) Ohm's Law.

Q9) By drawing a simple circuit consists o f two resistors connected in series with the voltage source, derive a
voltage division equation.

Q10) A 2.5 kW electric heater is connected to a 220 V source.


(i) How much current does the heater draw?
(ii) If the heater is on for 30 minutes, how much energy is consumed in kilowatthours (kWh)?
(iii) Calculate the cost of operating the heater for 30 minutes if energy cost is RM0.50 per kWh.

Q11) For the circuit in Figure:


(i) Find the equivalent resistance Rab in the circuit of Figure
(ii) Find also current, Ip and hence calculate power delivered by 10 V voltage source
without using mesh or nodal analysis

Q13) In Figure, a battery is connected with seven branches.
i) If the DC circuit in Figure 13(a) is equivalent to Figure 13(b), determine the value of the equivalent resistor, R . Draw
the steps o f the circuit simplification.
ii) Determine the currents /1 and I2 in Figure 13(a) using current divider method.
iii) Determine the voltage across the 14 ohm resistor in Figure 13(a).
vi) Determine the dissipated power, P, in the 14 ohm and 4 ohm resistors in Figure 13(a).
