Background

The world is facing many challenges today including pollution and desertification. Nations do
not have clean air to breathe and the land no longer produces enough to feed nations.

The CALA

The CALA is in two parts.

Part 1: Pollution

Investigate the types of pollution affecting your home area and identify their:

(a) causes [5]

(b) effects [5]

(c) possible solutions [10]

Part 2: Desertification

Research on the causes and effects of desertification and suggest mitigatory measures to control
it under the following headings.

(a) causes of desertification [5]

(b) effects of desertification [5]

(c) mitigatory measures [10]
