Learning Engagement Tool (LET): "Lifeboat Operations" which shall

1. 2 off All lifeboats are rigid hulled, modern ones mostly manufactured from glass-fibre
reinforced polyester

2. 3 off - All lifeboats are fitted with a least one drain valve situated at the lowest part of the
hull, which shall be a non-return type

4. BOSUN Lifeboats shall have skates and/or fenders to avoid lifeboats being damaged on
the ship's side while launching

5. P MAN Launching procedures for lifeboats depends of type and manufacturer of the boat
and davits.

6. AB 1 Water spray fire-protection system shall be capable to protect the boat for a period
of not less than 8 minutes, while boat is envelop with continuous oil fire;

7. AB 2 Lifeboats shall have skates and/or fenders to avoid lifeboats being damaged on the
ship's side while launching

8. OS Lifeboats are fitted with sufficient watertight lockers to provide storage for the
survival, rescue and detection equipment in compliance with the LSA Code.

9. OILER A manually controlled light shall be fitted inside the lifeboat to provide illumination
for not less than 12 h to permit reading of survival and equipment instructions

10. FITTER Exact positions of lifeboats are indicated on the Fire Safety Plan

11. 3 ENG Davit launched (partly and fully) enclosed lifeboats are designed to be launched
from inside the boat

12. COOK Release mechanisms are the most important component of lifeboats. They shall
be operated very carefully according to manufacturer's instructions to prevent malfunction
and accidents.
