 How it works
“Buy a Pair, Give a Pair” program has been part of Warby Parker business since their inception
in 2010, and its goal is to address the lack of access to glasses and proper vision care affecting
over 2.5 billion people. For every pair of glasses sold, they distribute a pair to someone in need.
In achieving this mission, Warby Parker utilizes two models:
+ Empowering people to administer basic eye exams and sell glasses at ultra-affordable prices.
+ Directly giving vision care and glasses to those in need, via cross-sector partnerships.
 Warby Parker’s partners:
Firstly, the non-profit social enterprise VisionSpring is their longest-standing partner in the “Buy
a Pair, Give a Pair” program. Neil Blumenthal, one of the co-founders of Warby Parker, worked
at VisionSpring before founding the company so he could understand how meaningful this model
was to those living on low-income conditions. Nearly 60% of VisionSpring customers are getting
glasses for the first time.
Secondly, in 2015, they created Pupils Project, a program that works with local organizations and
government agencies across the United States to give free vision screenings, eye exams, and
glasses to schoolchildren.
Thirdly, in 2019, they start the partnership with the LV Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) in India.
During next few years, they work with Ver Bien Para Aprender Mejor, which uses a similar
model to support students across Mexico. Moreover, they broadened their work with
RestoringVision, a global nonprofit dedicated to creating equitable access to vision services and
eyeglasses for individuals in poverty or extreme poverty.
