01 ‘CITY CENTER’

AIM:
To create an intriguing and dynamic space which can be perceived as a
landmark and satisfies commercial and social needs of the neighborhood.

OBJECTIVES:
To study the origin, existing scenario and future interpretations of a city
center.

To observe various issues faced by the existing city centers and discover ways
to resolve those issues with design interventions.

To explore and analyze the outcomes of design due to amalgamation of


different activities.

To integrate the essence of traditional retail spaces, food eateries and


corporate spaces with the contemporary design, keeping in mind the need of
current and future times.

NEED OF THE STUDY:

A new approach is needed in the designing of shopping centers


Conventional shopping streets are of a very vibrant and active nature
to date, But it has to face many problems like congestion, no proper
pedestrian spaces , not enough parking spaces.

The conventional Shopping malls in India have restricted their area of


selling to major international and National brands. which makes the
goods sold there a bit more expensive. Also it lacks the vibrancy of the
street shopping

In metropolitan cities. the necessity of such a space which is


vibrant, inviting for everyone to spend and enjoy their day in the
weekends or after a tiresome day at work is immense . Therefore, a
space is needed where all can enjoy. which has both local and major
brands and which includes activities for recreational purpose.

City Centre is a compact place where all the needs of the people
are satisfied with the provision of a large range of options. it is also
profitable for the business running there as people with different
motives to visit the place might get interested in their products and
buy commodities. Also as a lot of people visit the place, every
business there gets advertised to the people

The Greek Agora was
located in the center of the
polis and was also the focal
point of the town which
functioned as a market as well
as gathering space for the
political assembly. Thus, it had
social, political as well as
economic importance. it also
acted as a formal and informal
meeting space for the citizens.

The functions of the Greek

brought together in "forum"
during the Roman Empire . It

social relationship with food as a result of urbanization, this thesis
aims to propose an experiential programmatic mix centered around
food, architecture, and people in the southern part of India.

To incubate small food businesses and cultivate both culinary and


cultural happening.

Encourage tourism and public involvement; promote informal


events and activities. events and activities
OBJECTIVES:
The goal is to rejuvenate a place and give a place and give a new
identity in the city to make it a vibrant social hub for all types of
culinary Gastronomical engagements.

To provide an efficient master-level plan for all the programs


inside the campus.

To provide a culinary centre That resolves to discover, taste,


experience, and research understanding food preparation and the
sensory qualities of human nutrition as a Whole.

To create a food gallery that exhibits the history, cultural lineage,


food trends, customs, and tradition.

To provide a fine dining multi-cuisine restaurant to enhance and


imbibe Indian flavour to the public

The proposal is to be transformed into a city-level destination for
food that spreads knowledge and awareness about gastronomical
activities.

To create a permeable open space that is versatile and inclusive

manage the food waste within the complex, provide design solutions,
and incorporate a culinary centre as a new public food plaza in the city.

Making the project identity for food culture and keeping up with the
spirit of the city-unfolding architecture and food simultaneously

URBAN FARM:
Producing or growing food in

areas is known as Urban farming.
It refers to agricultural practices
in urban and their peri-urban
areas. It increases the availability
of food for people in need by

INTERODUCTION:

In general, a waterfront is the zone of interaction between urban


developments and the water and a waterfront area is considered as
a unique and irreplaceable resource.

Moreover, the waterfront is characterized as a place integrating


land with water and having a natural attraction to people. In fact,
the seashore and riverfront are the most attractive water features
for human settlement and, in most countries the land in front of
water is developed earlier than the inland areas .

Waterfront development refers to any development in front of


water and a water body a river, lake, ocean, bay, creek or canal.
