JW DATO ZAMAN

Worshipful Master Ladies & Bretheren.

It is my pleasure as Junior Warden o.

If the Lodge to welcome and propose a toast to our ladies and to our visiting bretheren.

It is so nice to see our ladies all gaily and colorfully dressed as this is so different from our
formal black and white set-ups! Thank you all for adding colour this evening.

As there are “first timers” here let me blow the Johor Royal Trumpet a little. The land on which
this Lodge stands is Royal land given to Freemasons by HRH Sultan Sir Ibrahim the great
grandfather of the present ruling Sultan who is also Sultan Ibrahim. H.R.H Sultan Sir Ibrahim
was Worshipful Master of this Lodge from 1921-22. We are proud that Johor “Royal” Lodge is
the only Malaysian Royal English Lodge in this country.

You all witnessed a banner dedication ceremony. Many of us have not witnessed one before
and many of us will not witness another one as this is very rarely held. The original banner
which adorned the Lodge was old and tattered and so W. Bro. Ng Yew Man in his generosity
donated the new banner. The dedication is memorable and auspicious and you are all
witnesses to history. The banner is important to us as we Freemasons rally and gather under
our respective banners.

Another interesting point is that the original warrant of this Lodge was dated 17-3-1919 – it will
be 92 years tomorrow. In a few years we will celebrate the centenary of this Lodge.

Ladies and bretheren you have been made part of the history of the Lodge this evening.

Our Master to celebrate this dedication of the banner ceremony has been rather lavish with pre-
dinner food the banquet and he has also arranged for supper. So do not be in a hurry to leave
these Royal grounds but stay back and fellowship.

May I invite all bretheren of Johore Royal to rise and raise their glasses to our ladies and guests
coupled with the name of ------------------------
