Power of daily life Reflection Unveiled Through Poetry

In our unexamined daily lives, precious stories are often hidden, unseen in the monotony that fills

our existence. Quotes from two poems: “Honey Crisp” and “Billionaires: Why do they want to

this place?” embarks on the journey of thought and revelation. This essay highlights the importance

of introspection in our daily lives by considering themes of neglect, curiosity and daily routines.

To begin with Neglect, as depicted in "Peacock, Molly. (2023, July 10). Honey Crisp, line 4.", it

vividly illustrates the aging apple, shifting from a honey crisp to a wrinkled fruit, serves as a

poignant metaphor for our unintentional neglect to simple joys and experiences that surround us

daily, due to busy schedule. As Peacock (2023) beautifully articulated in line 2, the poem also

emphasizes that we often procrastinate things to a later date and fail to realize the importance of

those things until it's too late. These lines in the poem resonate deeply with those moments when

we let time slip through our fingers, only to regret it later. I personally relate to this through a

situation in my own life. I purchased Atomic Habits by James Clear in 2019 before the onset of

the COVID-19 pandemic, intending to read it. However, as work and daily chores consumed my

time, I allowed the hours to pass, even during the pandemic lockdowns. It was not until I delved

into James' 'Atomic Habits' and absorbed his life lessons that I truly comprehended the magnitude

of missed opportunities, lessons and the vital importance of living in the moment.

Furthermore, the poems invite us to delve into the imaginative facets of our nature and underscore

the pivotal role curiosity plays in shaping our experiences. 'Billionaires: Why Do They Want to

Go to Space?' by "Emily Flake, (2023)" takes us on an audacious journey, as depicted in the line,

'obliterating a celestial body' (Flake, 2023, line 1). This imaginative endeavor calls to mind

moments in our lives when we have entertained unconventional or whimsical notions as a means
of coping. For example, envisioning fantastic acts of retaliation after a breakup is a manifestation

of this creative thinking. It's in these whimsical moments that we find solace, as I discovered in

my own life. I, too, once sought refuge in imaginative daydreams to navigate the turbulent waters

of my post-breakup emotions. I would think of my career, imagining traveling to places I like and

eating my favorite foods. These daydreams served as therapeutic outlets, offering constructive

means of managing my emotional turmoil.

In addition to this, poems emphasize how deeply our routines can influence our lives, extending

their effects to relationships and personal growth. " Peacock (2023)" effectively illustrates the

consequences of blindly following routines, as exemplified by the man's unvarying habit of having

an apple for lunch "Peacock, H. (2023, July 10) Honey crisp, Line 3". This narrative encourages

introspection about our own routines and their potential to limit our experiences and interactions.

This concept of routines closely resonated with my own life. I vividly recall a phase when I found

myself caught in the strict routine of studying for longer hours and taking little time for social

activities or personal growth. The continuous pressure from academic deadlines and a lack of

balance was impacting me badly. However, the moment of realization occurred when I started

feeling depressed and burned out. Thus, I recognized the need to reconstruct my approach to

studying and life as a whole. This turning point prompted me to have a more balanced and fulfilling

student experience.

In conclusion, many masterpieces are waiting to be encountered in our daily life. The poem

reminds us of the transformative potential of focusing and self-reflecting on what seems like a

tapestry. By discovering the inattentions, curiosities and details of daily life, we see their deep

impact on our lives and show us that the undiscovered moment is the essence of our lives. Insights
from poetry remind us of the present moment, challenges everyday life, and make us aware of the

limits of our curiosity and imagination. Thus, Uncertain times are very beneficial in our lives, they

make us think deeply and lead us to self-discovery.
