Lesson The students will identify the affixes, understand the meaning of the

construct a sentence with multi-meaning words, and become
knowledgeable about the uses of prefixes and suffixes both in general and
in the classroom.
Materials Teacher: Projector, HP Computer, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Students: iPads and printed-out notes

Presentation

Introduction Activating Prior Knowledge: I will ask them what they know about prefixes
and suffixes
○ have them name a few prefix and suffix examples, it can be
words or just the connectors
Sequence of ● I will teach at a moderate pace with PowerPoint, so the students
activities have time to retain the content and take notes on the handout.
○ 1. I will show a YouTube video illustrating the use of
affixes: "Prefix or Suffix" by The Bazillions, What are
Prefixes?, What are Suffixes?
■ I will conduct a Guided Practice activity where
students will fill out a prefix-suffix chart (Graphic
organizer/Vocabulary) with sentences and word
examples. The students will have the choice to work
independently or in a group of 2-3.

the affixes.
