Welcome to Ms. Stephenson’s Poetry Workshop


Today, you will be creating three different types of poems from the list I have given you, (though you are
not limited to only three). If you do not finish, you will have to finish at home.

Instructions:

- Choose three types of poems using the resources provided


- Write 3 poems

- Learning about how to put words together
- Sparks creativity
- Maybe you’ll write a world famous rap song

*Tips for New Poets:

1. Use poetic devices! Refer back to your notes.
- Alliteration, hyperbole, onomatopoeia, personification… etc.
2. Experiment with different types of poems
3. Read poetry
4. Just write whatever comes to mind, editing can and will be done later
5. Find your writing style
