Calculated Discharge (Q) = 95.419 cumec
Now average of the discharge = 95.419 cumec
This discharge has to be enhanced by 30% as per Cl. 703.1.1 , P-9 of IRC:78-2014
So, enhanced design discharge = 124.045 cumec
Calculation of waterway and scour depth :
Design discharge , worked out = 143.48 cumec
Vertical clearance required = 0.90 m

Linear waterway , as per cl.106.5 page 13 of IRC : 5 - 2015, required , as follows;

WCÖQ ….( ii )

Where ,W=Effective regime width

Q= The design maxm discharge
C= A constant equals to , 4.80 143.50043

Now , W= 57.50 metre

Allowing a contraction of 15% , Waterway to be provided (m) = 48.88
Gross waterway provided (Abutment to Abutment)= 49.13 metre
Obstruction for Pier = nos of Pier x Pier width= 4m
However , provided water way(effective linear) , L = 45.13 metre
Using , Mole Worth formula
ℎ=[𝑉^2/(17⋅88)+0.015]×[(𝐴/𝑎)^2−1]

h = afflux (in meters)

V = average velocity of the water in the river prior to constriction (in m/sec)
A = unobstructed sectional area of the river at proposed site (in sq. m)
a = constricted area of the river at proposed site (in sq. m)
Now velocity of flow = V= 1.00 m/sec at bridge site
Un-obstructed, area = A= 123.15 m2
Obstructed , area (sq m) a= 113.13 m2
Afflux, h = 0.0131 m

Average HFL is 5.400 Metre

Discharge calculated considering average HFL, vertical clearance provided above HFL.
However, Vertical clearance required 0.905 metre
Soffit level of bridge should not go below 6.305 Metre
Soffit level shall be kept at R.L = 6.305 Metre
Assuming total depth of superstructure structure : 0.700 metre at mid span ,
Average thk of wearing course = 0.110 metre
Top level of deck/road formation level : 7.115 Metre
Calculation of scour depth:
As per cl. 110.1.3, page no 18 of IRC: 5 - 1998 ,
Where ,
dsm = Mean depth of scour below the highest flood level
Db= The discharge in cumecs per metre width
Ksf = Silt factor
Db= 3.18 cumec/metre
Ksf = 0.75
Now , dsm= 3.19 metre
