1. A complex network:-it is obviously a complex network because from the definition itself we are
getting the idea that it is a network of networks and thousands of millions of computer are
getting added each day to expand the network. So, obviously it is a complex network.
2. Disorganised:-Disorganised means that the information are not very much compact or not in
organised manner. It is not actually organised.
3. Decentralised system:-Internet is decentralised in the sense because no central authorities is
actually controlling it that is no monopoly over actually giving the service over the internet. So,
obviously it is a decentralised system.
4. Dynamic in nature:-because every time all the web pages are there ,most of them are getting
updated each and every second. They are trying to modify/update the website. Overall the
entire community of the internet are also updating themselves each moment. So, obviously
they are dynamic in nature.
5. Expanding exponential:-expanding exponentially because it is never changing and always
growing. Day by day the networks are increasing in an exponential rate.
Features of the internet/Applications of the internet:- by accessing through internet we can do many
kind of activities. Primarily getting online, sending and receiving email, online business, chatting, online
games, social media are among them.

A study of the underline structure of the Internet outlines the following major components,
1. Internet services,
2. Elements of the internet,
3. Uniform Resource Locator(URL)
4. Internet protocol.
Internet services:-
1. E-mail:-It started in 1970. Email(Electronic mail) is the most common service of the internet.
2. FTP(File Transfer Protocol):-It started in 1973. FTP is designed for transfer in files among
computers. Files are available for downloading on the internet using FTP.
3. Newsgroup(Usenet):-It started in 1979. It is a public massaging system.
4. WWW(World Wide Web):-It started in 1992. This service features user friendly publishing and
multimedia documents and files.
Elements of the Internet:- A Simplified Hierarchical Model of the Internet that includes Client PCs, server
computers and networks.
Uniform Resource Locator:- URLs are the unique addresses of internet resources. An URL is divided into
four parts such as,
1. Transfer protocol,
2. Server nil,
3. Directory path,
4. File name.

Internet protocol:- IP is a method by which data is sent from one computer to another over the network.
Each computer that is connected to the internet has at least one IP address which uniquely identifies this
computer from other computers.
