ABSTRACT

The MOSE (Modulo Sperimentale Elettromeccanico) project in Venice represents a

groundbreaking initiative aimed at addressing the persistent threat of high tides and flooding
in the city. This engineering marvel combines science and technology to create a formidable
defense system capable of protecting Venice from tides of up to 3 meters. Once completed,
the MOSE system will stand as the largest dam structure globally, with each barrier covering
an expansive 6500 square feet. This abstract highlight the project's significance in providing a
permanent solution to eradicate the fear of flooding, emphasizing its necessity today and its
indispensable role in the future. As an ongoing process, the MOSE project exemplifies the
synergy between scientific understanding and engineering innovation, offering a holistic
approach to safeguarding Venice's cultural and historical heritage.

Keywords: MOSE project, Venice, high tides, flooding, Modulo Sperimentale
