The module, “Installing Wiring Devices of Floor and Wall Mounted Outlets,
Lighting Fixture/Switches and Auxiliary Outlets”, contains training materials and
activities related to Electrical and electronics Sector.
In this module you are required to go through a series of learning activities in order to
complete each learning outcome. In each learning outcome are Information Sheets, Self-
Checks, Operation Sheets and Task/Job Sheets. Follow and perform the activities on your
own. If you have questions, do not hesitate to ask for assistance from your facilitator.
Remember to:
1. Work through all the information and complete the activities in
each section.
2. Read information sheets and complete self-check. Suggested

to do things.
4. You will be given plenty of opportunities to ask questions and
practice on the job. Make sure you practice your new skills during
regular shifts. This way, you will improve your speed, memory
and confidence.
5. Use the self-checks, operation sheets or task or job sheets at the
end of each section to test your own progress. Use the performance
criteria check list or procedural checklist located after the sheet to
check your own performance.
6. When you feel confident that you have had sufficient practice, ask
your trainer to evaluate you. The result of your assessment will be
recorded in your progress chart and Accomplishment Chart.
You need to complete this module before you can perform the next module,

List of Competencies
INTRODUCTION:
This unit covers the knowledge, skills and attitudes on selecting and
installing lighting fixture/switches and notifying completion of work of floor and wall
mounted outlets and auxiliary outlets.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
To be able to verify that you are competent enough in this module, you must
be able to demonstrate the criteria listed below:
1. Operate wiring devices
2. Install Selected wiring devices
ASSESSMENT CRITERIA:
1. Correct type and quantity of wiring devices and consumable items are identified in
the line with job requirements.
2. Tools and equipment are selected in line with job requirements
CONDITIONS:
Students / Trainees must be provided with the following:
1. WORKPLACE LOCATION
2. EQUIPEMENT
Table
Chairs
Computers
Fire alarm
3. TRAINING MATERIALS
Utility box
Wiring board
Ground faults current interrupting devices
Personal protective equipment
ASSESSMENT METHODS:
After doing all activities of this LO1, Select wiring devices which is you may now
proceed to the next LO on Notify completion of work.
Pliers
Pliers are made in various shapes and sizes and for many uses. Some are used for gripping
something round like a pipe or rod, some are used for twisting wires, and others are designed
to be used for a combination of tasks including cutting wire. There are also tools that are used
just for cutting wires (as opposed to wire cable and rope). Use the correct pliers or wire
cutters for the job.
Screw drivers come in various sizes and shapes. They are used to drive and pull out screws.
They are made of insulated handles with either sharp and square tips. The width of the screw
driver should match the width or the screw slot.
Standard type
The tool used to drive a slotted screw head is called a standard, common blade, flat-
blade, slot-head, straight, flat, flat-tip, or "flat-head" screwdriver. This last usage can
be confusing, because the term flat-head also describes a screw with a flat top,
designed to install in a countersunk hole.
Phillips screwdriver has a head with pointed edges in the shape of a cross, which fit
neatly into the cross slots of a Phillips screw.
Offset
Wire puller (fish wire) is used to pull wire into the conduit or raceway
Drilling Equipment is needed to make holes in building structure for passage of wires and
conduit in both new and old installation, indoor or outdoor wiring. Common types of drilling
Electric drill
A power drill is an electrical motor that rotates a replaceable drill bit to make a
hole in wood, plastic, or metal.
hand drill is a manual tool that converts and amplifies circular motion of the
crank into circular motion of a drill chuck.
hand drill is used by many woodworkers.
Drill bits
Drill bits are cutting tools used to create cylindrical holes, almost always of circular
cross-section. Drill bits come in many sizes and have many uses.

A gimlet is a hand tool for drilling small holes, mainly in wood, without splitting.
Soldering tools are used in making splices and taps connections of wire.
Soldering iron
is a hand tool used in soldering. It supplies heat to melt solder so that it can flow into
the joint between two workpieces.
Blow torch
A fuel-burning tool used for applying flame and heat to various applications, usually
metalworking.
Hammers are used to drive and pull out nails. They are made of either hard steel or plastic.
Common examples of hammer are;

INTRODUCTION
Wiring devices are current-carrying electrical or electronic products that serve
primarily as a connection or control point for electrical circuits within a range of 0–400
amperes, 0–600 volts (AC and DC), and AC/DC (660 watts, 1,000 volts AC fluorescent) as
well as certain non-current-carrying wiring devices and supplies.
