Load Calculations
Calculation of loads on the slab

Load from the Pipe line and the supporting structure will be applied on the cover slab
Load from the Pipe line.

Load from water and Pipe = 0.746 KN/m (Refer previous letter for
calculations)
Supporting interval = 2m
Load applied on one cover slab = 0.746x2
= 1.492 kN

Load due from Supporting structure

Weight of Steel ms Plate = 1.0x0.4x7850x0.01

= 31.4 kg
Weight of c Chanels = 1.26x15.26
= 19.8kg
Weight of Nuts and Bolts = 0.2296x2
= 0.2kg
Weight of strap = 1.052x0.05x0.01x7850
= 0.4 kg

Weight of ms plate welded to c chanel = 3.14x.334x0.006x0.15/4

= 1.9 Kg

Weight of Neoprene = 3.14x0.315x0.01x0.05x1600

= 2.5 kg
Weight of welding and other minor = 1.0 kg
Total weight of the steel supporting structure= 47.1 kg
Total load applied from the supporting structure = 0.461 kN
ANNEX 1

Total dead load = 1.942+0.461

= 2.403 kN
= 6 kN/m²
Imposed load on roof slab = 1.5 kN/m2

Assumptions:
Live Load Factor (ϕLL) = 1.6
Dead Load Factor (ϕDL) = 1.4

Calculate Factored Loads:

Factored Dead Load = Dead Load * ϕDL = 6 kN/m² * 1.4 = 8.4 kN/m²
Factored Imposed Load = Imposed Load * ϕLL = 1.5 kN/m² * 1.6 = 2.4 kN/m²
Design Load (wd) = Factored Dead Load + Factored Imposed Load = 8.4 kN/m² + 2.4 kN/m² = 10.8
kN/m²
ANNEX 1

Calculate Bending Moment: Maximum Design Moment (Md) at midspan:

Md=wd⋅L2 /8 =(10.8kN/m2 x (1m)2)/8=1.35kNm

Determine Effective Depth (d): Effective Depth (d) based on the characteristic compressive strength of
concrete (fck):
d= ( Md /0.138⋅fck⋅b)0.5

=(1.35kNm /0.138⋅25N/mm2⋅0.4m)0.5 ≈0.125m =125mm

Calculate Reinforcement Area (As):

Depth of Steel from Compression Face (as) = Clear Cover + Diameter of Bar/2 = 25 mm + 16 mm/2 =
33 mm = 0.033 m

M/(bd2) = 1.35x106/100*125
100As/bd = 0.1
As = 125 mm2/m
T10@500

Check Minimum Thickness:

The calculated thickness (d) is 125 mm, which is greater than the minimum thickness requirements
specified by the code

Check Maximum Reinforcement:

The maximum allowable reinforcement ratio for a tension-controlled section is typically 0.04%.
Maximum Allowable Reinforcement Area = 0.04% * (Slab Area)
Maximum Allowable Reinforcement Area=0.0004⋅(1m×0.4m)=0.00016m2
The calculated reinforcement area (As) is 0.000125,which is well below the maximum allowable
reinforcement.
