• #201 Aviation 1 ball
• LION BRAND® large-eyed blunt needle

ADDITIONAL MATERIALS
Crochet hook size D-3 (3.25 mm)

GAUGE
24 hdc = about 4 in. (10 cm).
BE SURE TO CHECK GAUGE.

NOTES
1. Hat is made in one piece that is worked back and forth in rows.
2. Following diagrams, piece is seamed to form a tube then end of tube is seamed make top of Hat.

HAT
Ch 62.
Row 1 (WS): Hdc in 3rd ch from hook (2 skipped ch do not count as a st) and in each ch across – you will
have 60 hdc in this row.
Row 2 (RS): Ch 1, turn, working in back loops only, sl st in first 16 sts, hdc in last 44 sts – 16 sl sts and 44 hdc.
Row 3: Ch 2 (does not count as a st), turn, working in back loops only, hdc in each st across – 60 hdc.
Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until piece measures about 19 in. (48.5 cm) from beg, measured along longest side
edge, end with a Row 2 as the last row you work.
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

FINISHING
Follow diagrams to finish Hat.
1. Sew beg and ending edges of piece together to form a tube.
2. From RS, place seam at center back and lay piece flat. Sew top edges of narrow end of tube together
for top of Hat.
3. From WS, with seam still at center back and sewing through both thicknesses, beg about 1-1 1/2 in.
(2.5-4 cm) from top corners s and sew diagonal seams at each top corner to shape top of Hat.
Weave in ends and turn Hat right side out.
