Nowadays, it is popular for the school curriculum to be selected by the
central education authority, however, many people believe that teachers,
parents, and students to choose their curriculum. In my opinion, the latter would be more beneficial overall. On the one hand, the school curriculum selected by the central education authority does bring certain advantages. First, the school curriculum chosen by the central education authority would be more convenient and take less effort since it can be applied to many different schools. Moreover, the curriculum will be selected after the research of education experts to ensure that it is suitable for as many schools as possible. For instance, subjects will be divided reasonably so that students will not be overwhelmed by the main subjects in one day. On the other hand, it is certainly more practical and effective for teachers, students, and parents to select their school curriculum. Being able to create a custom curriculum allows teachers, students, and parents to decide the time and subject arrangement for the best result possible. For instance, the school curriculum can focus more on subjects that students choose to optimize their performance. Secondly, schools and parents can manage students better and students can create a suitable timetable, which provides students to have a balanced lifestyle and time to revise and research the lesson on their own. In conclusion, although the school curriculum selected by the central education authority can be applied to different schools, I believe that teachers, students, and parents should be given the choice to choose their curriculum to ensure the quality and effectiveness of the education program.
