An independent curriculum is a curriculum with intracurricular learning with varied content so that

students can choose more and have sufficient time to explore concepts and strengthen competencies.
The Mandiri Curriculum was launched as a replacement for the K13 curriculum and is considered to be
an effective curriculum replacement

with an independent curriculum, every student can re-explore themselves to find what they like, what
they can create according to their interests and talents. Apart from that, this curriculum also has an
impact on the mental health of students. Students are not only motivated to always get good grades,
but also to get other positive things such as skills, good character, and a logical mindset that is trained to
become skilled and ethical students.l

Apart from students, teachers also get a good impact. Teachers have many opportunities to teach new
things according to their students' abilities and needs. Teachers can also deepen learning in things other
than school subjects, unlike the previous curriculum which was based on existing lessons and materials,
so that it can make it easier for teachers to help students develop themselves.

Meanwhile, on the one hand, the curriculum uses a lot of presentation methods. If it's just a
presentation, students will not understand the entire material provided. Apart from that, implementing
the independent curriculum also takes quite a long time due to lack of experience with independent
learning. And teachers must take part in training to be able to implement the independent curriculum.

The large amount of training that must be held and attended results in a lot of costs that must be
incurred. These costs are another part of the negative impact of this independent curriculum. In the
independent curriculum there is also a project assignment called P5 which also costs students money.
Does not include costs for small projects.

From a comparison of the positive and negative impacts of using the independent curriculum, it can be
concluded that the positive impacts outweigh the negative impacts. So the benefits of implementing this
curriculum are greater. So implementing an independent curriculum can be an effective curriculum to
replace the previous curriculum.
