Group Project Reflection
Reflecting on this group project overall my group did a great job of covering and
explaining writing in the digital age. My group had good communication with each other
throughout the whole project. We encouraged each other to voice each other’s ideas and
opinions, while we actively listened. As we brainstormed, we decided to focus on the forefront of
writing in the digital age, primarily on ChatGPT. During our presentation, my group did a great
job by opening the floor to the UTAs to allow for an open discussion to see the current effect
ChatGPT has on our class. We decided to create a collaborative environment where everyone
feels comfortable sharing their thoughts on the matter.
When my group was designing the discussion board, we all contributed different parts to
the discussion. I know me personally I always liked when videos were included in a discussion
board assignment, which gives a distinct change of pace rather than just reading text and writing
like always. My other group mates found some of the readings by doing some research and using
the articles that you provided us. We came up with the questions based on the readings and the
video that would help promote a conversation on ChatGPT and tie it back to our class around
being UTAs. We even input some of our questions into ChatGPT to help reword some of them
and generate other ideas. My group read each response before coming to class to get an idea of
the general consensus so that we could steer the conversation in a helpful direction. Our peers’
conversation influenced us to lead to an argumentative style approach for pros and cons seeing
how the discussion board was split on who liked and disliked ChatGPT.
In self-evaluating my group’s contribution to one of the course learning outcomes would
be how we facilitated a successful outcome in the classroom. We wanted to have a healthy
discussion around ChatGPT, which started by opening our discussion board so they could openly
express their opinions. Since ChatGPT has taken over by storm the process required to bring
about a successful outcome in the classroom has changed its mold. As a teacher, we cannot
ignore ChatGPT but instead should see it as a tool and include it in our teaching. As technology
changes so do the processes to bring about a successful outcome in class. As a teacher, we must

change the format so that our students are still taking away the main points we want them to
learn by finding effective ways to utilize ChatGPT to our advantage. We then brought the
discussion into class and prompted a group discussion from some of their quotes and some of our
own questions to promote student engagement. My group highlighted this AI software and
brought it into the classroom so that this software can begin to be understood how it affects the
old pedagogy and begin to help prevent the hindering of students' learning abilities from this
software. My group articulated the Pros and Cons so that we could employ our main takeaways
of this software to our fellow UTAs so they can walk away knowing that ChatGPT is something
that must be addressed and should be treated as a tool in their classrooms.
