INTRODUCTION

Background of the Study

Electricity is utilized in a variety of applications, including lighting,

cooling, and heating, as well as to power or drive electrical
equipment and machines. Electricity aids economic progress, and
it is a well-known truth that electricity is crucial to daily living.Life
will be monotonous without it, both at home and at work. Electricity
flows more freely through some materials than others. Some
materials, such as metals, have relatively low resistance to the
flow of electric current.
.Another term for them is "conductors."The earth's surface or
subsurface is frequently neglected.Rubber, dry wood, plastic, and
clothing are examples of insulator materials that give great
resistance to the flow of electric current (Bakshi, and Bakshi,
2009). Electricity generally travels in closed circuits, through a
conductor, but Occasionally, a person's body is an efficient
conductor of electricity.
By mistake, it becomes a component of the electric circuit. This
can result in an electrical shock. Electric shocks happen when a
person's body completes a current route that includes both wires of
an electric circuit and one wire of an energized circuit.the ground
and a metal component that becomes energized by accident owing
to a rupture in its insulation or
another "conductor" transporting a current (Floyd, Rogers, and
others)
Uzoka, 2008). Circuit protection is critical in any electrical
installation because it prevents fires. Circuit protection
automatically limits or stops current flow in the event of an
overload, ground fault, or short circuit in the circuit. The wiring
system. In an electrical system, grounding implies purposely
connecting a low-resistance link to the earth. This prevents voltage
accumulation,
which could lead to an electrical accident in an installation.
Grounding is typically used as a secondary protective strategy
against electric shock, and it does not totally protect the person
from being shocked, injured, or killed by an electrical current (Seip,
2000).
Despite its importance in daily life, electricity is frequently misused.
It is known as a "silent killer" since it cannot be eaten, seen, heard,
or felt.smelled. It is virtually undetectable. It is a property destroyer
if not handled with care. Electricity is invisible in nature and has
long been recognized as a serious hazard in residential,
commercial areas, institutions of learning, and other places.
According to Cadick, Capelli-Schellpferffer,
and Neitzel (2006), in the late 1800s, hotels had to place signs
assuring their guests that electricity is harmless, but by the late
1900s, signs had to be hung to remind people that electricity is a
hazard.
As a result, the researchers are inspired to investigate the impact
of dangers and
risks in the performance of EIM students at Bulua National High
School

Significance of the Study

The following are expected to benefit from the study:

Students - the findings of this study will be of great assistance to

students in learning about dangers and risks in order to develop
their skills.

Teachers - will benefit greatly from the findings of this study since
they will be able to assist students in identifying hazards and risks
while performing.

Research - the study's findings will provide the researchers with an

excellent opportunity to become aware about hazards and risks.

As a result, it is thought that this study would provide important

information to help students with installation problems.
Scope and Delimitations of the Study

The primary goal of this research is to investigate the impact of

hazards and risks on student performance. Personal information
about the students, such as their name, gender, and age, is taken
into account in the study.
The study is limited to 50 EIM students from Bulua National High
School in the school year 2023-2024. Each student is given a
questionnaire to complete. To avoid prejudice and provide
objective perception, respondents are chosen among EIM
students.

Statement of the Problem

The goal of this study is to determine the effects of hazards and risks in

electrical installation and maintenance in the performance of EIM students in

Bulua National High School.

Specifically it strives to answer the following questions:

1. What is the profile of the students when analyzed by:

1.1 Gender;

1.2 Age; and

1.3 Section?

2. What are the effect of the hazards and risks in students’ performance

when analyzed by:

2.1 Confidence;

2.2 Academic?

3. Is there a significant difference between the effects of hazards and

risks in students’ performance?
