The Hamburger Model of Writing

The hamburger Model of writing, also called “paragraph hamburger” and

“sandwich model” is a writing organizer that visually outlines the key
components of a paragraph. Topic sentence, detail sentences, and a closing
sentence are the main elements of a good paragraph, and each one forms a
different “piece” of the hamburger ((Howe et al., n.d)

How to use paragraph hamburger

1. Three main components of a paragraph, or story.
a. The introduction (top bun)
b. The internal or supporting information (the filling)
c. The conclusion (bottom bun)
2. Write a topic sentence that clearly indicates what the whole paragraph is

3. Compose several supporting sentences that give more information about
the topic.
4. Write a concluding sentence that restates the topic sentence.

introduction, body and conclusion. However, using the hamburger model of
writing clearly illustrates how ideas are organize and what possible details to
be included in every part. It is also one of the best model when writing a
position paper.

For Catholics (indeed for many Christians), at the

center of such a discussion on the nature of
human life and meaning is the question of the
sanctity of human life. For the believer, God is the

Sacredness for him is not rooted in a transcendent

destruction of human life, and in the sense of awe
one feels before one's own vitality and that of the

But it is not enough to simply
