What is Cataracts?
● an eye disorder that affects a lot of
older people.
● cloudy area appears on the lens of
your eye.
● lens is the part of your eye that
focuses the light so that you can
see.

HOW DO CATARACTS AFFECT QUALITY
OF LIFE?
Difficulty driving in the night
- Reduces general visibility of
pedestrians and another moving
vehicles
- Can increase fatigue levels after
driving for a while
Being very sensitive to strong lights
- Causes discomfort and pain for the
eyes
- Colours start to becoming faint
HOW IS IT CAUSED?
● Main cause of cataracts is age and
growing old.
● When you are young your eyes are
healthy and normal.
● When you get older the proteins in your
eyes clump together.
● This is why your eyes look cloudy.

This is a group of diseases in
ophthalmology in which a decrease in
visual acuity is due to a violation of the
focus of the image on the retina.
