Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince is a worthy resurgence for this beloved spinoff series. While the messy narrative pacing and poor
framerate bring the adventure down a few notches, the addictive and rewarding gameplay loop with player freedom at its core more than offsets
those flaws. You can spend countless hours making your ideal team to your heart’s content and engaging with the post-game content after clearing
the main story. Further, Dragon Quest IV fans will get more out of this journey than most, but newcomers who exhibit patience can still find
themselves invested and enthralled. Ultimately, Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince proves that this series can prosper, and with the promise
that they’ll continue, we’re excited to see where it goes from here.

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince is an enjoyable monster-catching RPG that combines charming visuals with addictive gameplay to make
for a genuinely gripping experience, making it feel like the long wait since the last entry to leave Japan has been worth it. Even so, its general lack of
ambition and struggles with performance issues hold it back from greatness—it’s very good, but it’s also definitely got its issues. If you’re at all a fan
of Dragon Quest or monster-catching RPGs, we’d suggest you pick this one up, though perhaps wait a few months to see if Square can sort out the
worst of its performance issues.

A very addictive monster collectathon which you can grind out for hundreds and hundreds of hours. With over 520 monsters to collect, you will
constantly be levelling up your team and trying to catch more monsters to synthesize them with other monsters to create new monsters! Not only do
you want to do this for the offline campaign, but there is multiplayer so you will always be wanting to bring your best team into the ring to fight other

While I didn't know what to expect when I first saw the announcement of this game; I've never been the.biggest fan of Dragon Quest, and I've been
even less of one of Dragon Quest Monsters. If you're anything like the RPG player I've described; this game likely won't change your mind or
replace Pokémon anytime soon. Though DQIV is among the best installments of the main series and the eponymous Dark Prince Psaro among its
best characters; this game doesn't reach the heights it aims for. Even with some solid monster designs and interesting mechanics (such as fusing
monsters together); the game is ultimately bogged down by a cluttered interface and laggy performance (if you're on the fence about this game; I'd
recommend waiting for fixes and updates). If you're looking for a monster-taming RPG outside the Pokémon wheelhouse; I'd suggest looking
elsewhere for now.

Dragon Quest Monsters (DQM): The Dark Prince is a fun time for long time fans of the series with some nice quality of life improvements that don't
quite go far enough to refine the formula. I recommend only hardcore DQM fans buy this now. Everyone else should wait for a release on Steam
and even then wait for a sale. The DLC is not going to be worth it for probably 90% of people FYI. The "Mole Hole" is the best one, but it used to be
free in past games so it's a bitter pill. With how many more monsters this time are only available through breeding, you will want the "Mole Hole" for
easy access to rare monsters you've caught before if you want to catch them all (which I don't recommend in this game). I'm going to keep this
review categories, but there's so many little gameplay things that affect the game that I wish I could discuss and they bring the experience down
from similar priced game, like Pokemon Scarlet/Violet, Arceus, Sword/Sheild, ect. Getting to the monsters, while there are over 500, at least half…

 For the monster hunting fans this has some good qualities and I love that some (the cut scenes only) have an English voice over. However the
game isn't very deep (other than the monster mechanics). The story is mundane, the graphics are severely dated, the 3d motion at times has trouble
with the environments. As a Dragon Quest fan I was looking for more. This game comes off as a low budget cash grab. Monsters hunters will find
some love here but if you are looking for a top tier game this in not it.
