1. INTRODUCTION

"the method statement is applicable to road crossing tor West Quriia-2 Well Pads and Oil
Gathering System Project. Crossings of these i'oads will be carried out by Open-cut method and in
accordance with specification and typical drawings. This procedure gives detailed descriplioii of open-cut
method of road

'T'he detail inetl oc! and length of crossing should be subjected to design drawings.

2. CONSTRUCTION PROCESS FLOW

WORK DESCRIPTION

3.1GENEKAL
Road crossings will be performed using an open ctit technique, the necessary road permits shall be
oblained from the relevant authorities and interested third parties.

No road closures or road impacts will commence without formal dociimenled penrits and approvals
being in place by relevant authorities or interested parties, permits will have for inal attachments that
clearly detail any and all undergrotrrld set vices with thcir specific locations nolcd, spotters are
mandatory for the din ations of all excavations.

Immediately following the installation of the crossing, the li encli sliatl be backfi lied as i equired by
the authorities having jurisdiction and as approved b) the COMPANY. Backfil is or road crossings
shall be taiiiped in layers. The top layer’ of back fill slial I be material or the same type as the
original road surface. The road shall be restored to the satisfaction of the governing agency and the
COMPANY.

Road crossings will be perfoi rued by open cut with trench walls stabilized / supported or belched
as applicable based on the specific ground conditions, safe and adequate man access points
intist be established as pnil of excavation works.

All backfi lling will be as per drawing, which as detailed to have maximum of o00min layers at
specified compaction using lnboratoi'y standarcl proctor test and sand cone density test to be verified
by Coiiipany 3rd party inspector .

Crossing of roads shall be done in open cut method as per tlic typical drawing shown in this
document.

CoN rwcTOR will formally submit their l5“P for review and approval prior to any woi'k
commencing.

3.2 l*reparation Work

Familiarize at1 relevant drawings, depth of crossing, check whether the equipment, methods atid
materials for construction are in hand. Individual pipe lengths shall be laid out in close to the road
crossing location in preparation for welding of’ the prefabricated crossing section. Check the site

condition, whether’ any other iacil ities was buried near the crossing location. tf it has, the facilities
shall be exposed by hand tools firstly. Any trial holes excavated in roads or adjacent verges to locate
sei vices or app= ams will be proper ly protected by appropriate ti'affic signs and barriers.

3.3 Construction Survey

Formal layout survey of the road crossing will be under taken noting center line and crossing I irnits by
the CONTRACTOR.

The centerline will be established along the crossing central axis according to the control states and
centerline stakes arranged by pre-consti‘tiction survey.

3.4 Construction of Tcmporary Road

’l“he most favorable option for CONTRAC’I’OR is to employ thc existing roads as the temporary
roads. Wherever’ the existing roads are not available, CONTRACTOR shall build up the temporary
roa‹ls in ordcr to allow traffic passage. "1’he i'oadbed shall be compacted particularly, the roadbed at
soft earth sections will be filled and firmed with gravel.

CONTRACTOR will construct ndequately coiripacted and stable temporary bypass ronds where
deemed necessary, fill materials necessary will be that tised in bases for tempos ary i onds or substitutes
approved by COMPANY - or suitable methods of closing I lane of ti'affic at a titrie shall be used.

Location of existing nearby ]1ipeline shall be clearly marked dlii ing construction. A 1 m height soil
berin will be built for vehicle crossing on the pipeline.

3.5 Pipeline Prefabrication and Coating

Before excavatinfi the road, the bOllOWifig work should be coiripleted: Welding is performed
by qualified welders with approved WPS. The welds ai e passed by NOT as relevant specificaiion.
Field joint coating work is carried otit as relevant specification and procedure

Thei'e are provision on di'awings for encasing the pipe with concrete. Foi such case there are option
of’ pre-casting frill length pipe at shop before installing to open ctit road to expedite restoration of road.

3.6 Roiid Excavation

CONTRAc row snail mark out the boundary line of the trench nccoi'ding to the crossing axis and the
design width of tire trench.

When the sui'facc ot’ i oad is mphnlt or conci etc, CONTRACTOR shall use cutting machine to cut the
two sides of section road, and then name some nicks on the i on‹1 sin face with excavator to desti oy the
adhesion of the road.

Scheme A — typical to road most crossings in Damrnam works - The ditching depth shall met the
design requirements. The layout shah be as follow.

Survey at road crossing shall be done also after trench readiness at first to check conformance with
design drawings then afier pipeline laying at each welded joint and finally after road paving restore.

Scheme B — particular for Cluster 7 where bypass is not an option - CONTRACTOR shall fully
close the road to the maindate from vehicle entry and rise the west gate as shown below; however access
for pedestrian will be provided by building cross-over platform.

3.7 l'ipeIine Lower-iii aml Backfill

design requirement, Then the pipeline shall be lowered in the trench to ils proper position. sand
bedding irateri‹iis will be as per design specification and installed to the specificd minimum depth,
the sane bedding materials will be used to 300iniu or design requirements above the installed pt e,
pipcs will be installed Jeer design with survey reports compiled for verification.

Pipes will be installed by soft slings or by metlio‹ls that does not incur sinlace coatings damage, on
final placement all exterior surfaces of the pipes will be holiday tested to verify no coatings damage.
where such has occurred ml repairs will be undertaken and re-tested prior to any hackfiiling.

The sub base and base coiH se layers for open cut crossing road with ccncrete slab shall be reinstated
as per the existing and these layers shall be compacted greater than 95% MDD, tested and witnessed
by COMPANY.

If the soil under the ti ench is over excavated, the over cxcavatcd part shall be baekfi fled and
compacted to 95% MDD.

3.8 Road Restoration

Road restoration will be undertaken as per the original road base structures and surfacing referenced
in design specification or as per existing road surface, CONTRACTOR will further reinstate all
peripheral locations to as original condition which will include removal of any temporary access
roads and environmental impacts.

Contractor will compile all formal documentation necessary per contract requirements for formal
review and approvals for final handover to COMPANY.

4. QUALITY CONTROLS
Welding is performed by qualified welders with approved WPS.

The welds are passed by NDT as relevant specification.

Coating work is carried out as relevant specification and procedure.

Trench depth and width is accepted as per drawing and specification.

Backfiil is carried out as soon as possible after pipeline work

completed. Compaction has been carried out as relevant requirements

if necessary. Warning tape is laid out as relevant drawing.

Pipeline protection slab is laid out as relevant drawing (if any).

The quality record referred to lTP attachment.

5. HSE

Enough warning tape and barrier shall be installed on working site.

Visible direction sign shall he installed away from excavation point. H:iiicry or solar p‹rwcrcd liphls
should be deployed duritip llic hours of darktiess aroiiiid b‹irricades.

The excavated road shall be backfilled as soon as possible after pipeline lowered

in. The backfilled soil shall be well compacted to avoid any accident happening.

Flag men will be on site to guide the traffic if it is necessary.

All warning signs for unfinished road crossing shall be in both Arabic and English language.

6. TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT

According to the actu8l situation . Contractor will briild a bypass i oad to ensure vehicle and pcoplc
safety and Rio smoothly.

Set signboard and flag man to guide vehicle to through the point . A speed of 5ltrn/h limit was set
rind a dispatcher/fiagrnan was assigned at the exit turning point to prevent a ttaffic jam oi accident.

Close original minor road to through the point ,and then p'r• ine construction star.

Contractor deploys a HSSE repi'esentative to monitor the coiripliance of this plan and to take actions
to cori'ect where obser vet.
