FUNDAMENTALS OF SCOUTING
❑ The purpose of Scouting is:
“To contribute to the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and
spiritual potentials as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national, and
international communities”
❑ Scouting is based on these broad principles which represents its fundamental laws and beliefs:
1. “Duty to GOD and Country”
2. “Duty to Others”
3. “Duty to Self”
❑ SECTIONS
➢ KID Scouting (Kabataang Iminumulat-Diwa or Children to be Introduced to Virtues) is for boys 3 to 4 years of
age.(Pre-school)
➢ KAB Scouting (Kabataang Alay sa Bayan or Children Offered to the Nation) is for boys 5 to 7 years of
age.(Grades 1-3)
➢ Boy Scouting is for boys 7 to 12 years of age.(Grades 4-6)
➢ Senior Scouting is for boys and girls 13 to 17.(Grades 7-10)
➢ Rover Scouting for young men and women 17 to 24.(Grades 11-12 and Colleges)
A Troop is divided into four (4) sub-units called PATROLS/CREW each headed by a Patrol/Crew
Leaders. A patrol has a minimum of six (6) and a maximum of eight (8) members. It is organized as
follows:
1. Patrol/Crew Leader
3. Patrol/Crew Scribe
4. Patrol/Crew Treasurer
6. Patrol/Crew Quartermaster
