What is Senior
Scouting?

Senior Scouting is:
A dynamic program for teenagers done largely in the outdoors in
small groups called CREW which supplements the learning
experiences in the home, school and church.
Self-education aimed at the acquisition of knowledge and the
development of right values, attitude, skills, and habits through
outdoor, social, service and vocational activities.

What is Senior Scouting?


Senior Scouting is:
Development of good personal and public relations.
Undertake challenging activities and man-size responsibilities along
pathways that make the long journey to responsible manhood full of
fun and excitement.
Working together with other teenagers under the guidance of an adult
called OUTFIT ADVISOR, to plan and carry out many exciting
activities, participating in the conduct of their own affairs, and taking
an active role in whatever they agree to do.

What is Senior Scouting?


Senior Scouting is:
Supported by both government and non-government institutions and
agencies that are keen in helping the youth to develop their full
personal potential and competencies in order to cope with present day
life and to insure a happy tomorrow.
Develop leadership skills by holding different leadership positions in
the Outfit.
A challenging high adventure in fun and fellowship, towards
responsible citizenship

What is Senior Scouting?


Who can join Senior Scouting?
Any young man between the ages of thirteen (13) and
seventeen and half (17 ½) who is willing and able to
subscribe to and live the Scout Oath and Law, Scout
Motto and Slogan, and the Senior Scout Code, whether
they be in school or out-of-school and are physically fit
to undertake the required activities.

What is Senior Scouting?


How are Senior Scout Organized?

Senior scouts are organized into Outfits composed of a


minimum of four (4) crews, which is the basic unit in
Senior Scouting, is composed of a minimum of six (6) to
a maximum of eight (8) members. An outfit has a
maximum of thirty six (36) members including the Outfit
Boy Leaders.

 STEPS IN ORGANIZING A SCOUT UNIT

 An Institution or responsible group of citizens expresses a desire to organize a Scout Unit in a letter or a call to the Council
Office.
  The Scout Executive Confers with the head of the institution or group of citizen explaining the responsibilities in sponsoring
a Scout Unit.
  The Institution agrees to adopt the Scouting Program.
  An organizing committee, selected by the Institution meets to plan the organization of the Scout unit.
  The appointment of an Institutional Representative (IR) and the Institutional Scouting Committee (ISC) are finalized by the
organizing committee.
  The Institutional Scouting Committee in consultation with the IH and IR meet to appoint trained Unit Leader/s to handle the
Scout Unit. If no trained UL, the Council conducts an orientation while the untrained UL wait for the schedule of BTC to be
conducted by the Council.
  The boys who will be member of the Troop are recruited.
  The UL submits the Application for Unit Registration together with the registration fees of the Scouts and Scouters. All unit
officials should affix their signature opposite their names.
  The boys are assisted to the Membership Badge Requirements prior to Investiture. Unit officials are installed by the Council
during the investiture ceremony.

THE TROOP LEADER’S JOB


 REGISTRATION PROCEDURE

 The Boy Scouts of the Philippines, through the annual registration process seeks to ensure
the maintenance of standards and policies in the implementation of the Scouting Program.
  The BSP may refuse the re-registration of a Scout Unit when it is found upon review that it
does not adhere to the standards, principles and policies in carrying out the Scouting Program
  The registration system has been established to define who and how many are the official
members of the BSP. It make possible the protection of the Scout uniform, its badges and
insignias by making certain that only registered members can secure this items.
  The registration of Scout Unit involves three requirements:
 1. Application for Unit Registration with the signature of each adult member.
 2. Individual application of each boy.
 3. Payment of Registration fees.

THE TROOP LEADER’S JOB


 Adult Registration
 • Each adult member of the Unit signs the Application for Unit Registration.
 • By signing the AUR, the members indicates that they accepts the ideals of Scouting as embodied in the
Scout Oath and Law and agrees to be guided by the By-Laws of the BSP and its Local Council.

 Boy Application
• Each Boy fills out an Application to Become a Scout and these applications are kept by the Troop. The
application should be signed by the parent or guardians to indicate his/her willingness that his/her son
become a member of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines and assist him in observing the rules of Scouting.
 Registration Fees
 • Registration fees must accompany the Application for Unit Registration either by cash or checks
payable to the Council.
 These are forwarded to the National office upon approval of the Local Council through the Regional
Office which processes the application.
