Pollution is something in an environment
that has harmful or poisonous effects

Why does it matter if there is trash or
chemicals in the water?

Sometimes the things we throw away end up in our

rivers and lakes which end up flowing into our
oceans.

Since trash and chemicals don’t belong in nature and in

our water, it causes harm to the animals and
environment they live in. It also harms us because we
need water to survive.

• Last week we learned about ocean pollution and
how it affects the animals who live in it
• We also learned about how Tan Zi Xi is raising
awareness about the issue
• Then we made a watercolor ocean background

• We will look at another artist

• If you have not finished the watercolor we will

finish that next week

• We will start research after presentation: 10-15

minutes
• The rest of class we will practice drawing our
