What is Past Simple?

It describes events that occurred at a specific time in the past. In short, we

inform you when something happened. We use specific time expressions, e.g.
yesterday, two days ago, three weeks ago, etc. The time of the action may be
given directly in the sentence or may result from the context in which the
sentence is used. The duration of the activity is not important, we focus on the
fact that a given activity or several subsequent activities have been performed.
Here are some examples!

● Basic simple past:

○ I/you/he/she/it/we/they helped
● Expanded (emphatic) simple past:
○ I/you/he/she/it/we/they did help
● Question form:
○ Did I/you/he/she/it/we/they help?
● Negative:
○ I/you/he/she/it/we/they did not (didn't) help
● Negative question:
○ Did I/you/he/she/it/we/they not help? / Didn't I/you/he/she/it/we/they help?

● Regular verb endings with voiced consonants+/d/, e.g. hugged /hʌɡd/.

/stɒpt/.

Usage Of Past Simple:
The simple past is used for a single event or sequence of events in
the past, as well as past habitual actions. It can also refer to a past
state. For ongoing actions or temporary states, the past progressive
is generally used. However, certain stative verbs and verbs of
sensing have specific usage patterns. When one action interrupts
another, the interrupted action is expressed using the past
progressive, while the interrupting action is in the simple past. For
example, "Your mother called while you were cooking."
