As we face globalization time to time, language also is developing and adapting to the changes of the

world. Culture influence form a major part in the said development.

Knowing this will not just benefit you academically but also in personal matter. As we face different
kinds of people, culture and environment also vary depending to the person you are referring to. Having
knowledge about this terms will also help us to understand the culture itself and how we can avoid
disrespecting it; may it be intentional or not.

I know we have different interpretation about the given terms. If I will ask almost everyone, various
meanings and opinions are expected.

quality

Korea, if you ask almost anyone what quality means, they’ll say, ‘it’s brand new’. In Korea, newness is
important.

Japan, if I ask almost anyone what quality means, they’ll say, ‘it’s perfect — zero defects’. Japanese
culture emphasizes the importance of striving for perfection.

China, if I ask almost anyone what quality means, they’ll say, ‘it gives status’. your standing in a personal
network — so any item that gives you social status is considered quality.

Baba

In the Tagalog region and Pampanga, babà means chin. For the Maranao people, babà is synonymous to
kababaang-loob or humility. Babá can also mean the copulation of four-legged animals. In the Sebwano
and Waray languages, babá refers to the action of sitting on another person's shoulders. Babâ, which
has a glottal stop on the second syllable, refers to a downward action—stepping off a vehicle, reduction
in prices, or decrease in water level. In this example, we can observe various meaning depending on
where we will use it; also has different factors like stress on other syllable that can make the term
different.

Fancy dress
In the U.S., formal attire, such as ball gowns and black tie,while fancy-dress functions in the U.K. are
costume parties, requiring informal get-ups modeled after famous figures. Phew—fashion faux pas
avoided.

Pissed

If a U.S. speaker says they are “pissed,” they’re angry. If a Brit says the same, they’re drunk.

Dope

The word "dope" has seen its fair share of definitions. In the 1800s, it was used to refer to everything
from gravy to medicinal mixtures—and even today, the word takes on a different meaning depending on
where you are. In most of the United States, the word "dope" is slang to mean something is cool or
outstanding, but in Midwestern states like Ohio, the word is a noun referring to ice cream toppings,
particularly chocolate syrup—in which case, dope is dope!
