W Archival Data
Utilities
Reporter, Exporter and Viewer

The TrainTools Server software package (see PB5501) includes

U
a data archiving system that records the OPC online data and
alarm and event messages displayed by TrainView2 events and
trends pictures. Data from the archival database can then be
PID extracted, displayed, and printed using the Archival Data Utilities.
Those Archival Data Utilities are bundled with the TrainView2
program (see PB5522), but can also be purchased as a separate
A/D package. In particular, the Archive Reporter and Viewer utilities
can be used at remote locations, with no access to the archival
database, to view files exported from TrainView2 workstations.

Archive Reporter
The Archive Reporter program generates summarized, tabular
OPC data reports that can be created on one PC and viewed on
others. It can be set to automatically execute pre-defined report-
ing actions periodically or in response to specified critical events.
New reports can be printed, displayed, and/or saved to Windows
or UNIX/FTP file system locations in any of the following formats:
• this program’s native report data format (RDF)
• Microsoft Excel XLS files
• portable document format (PDF) files
• hypertext markup language (HTML) files
• rich text format (RTF) files
• unformatted text (TXT) files
• tagged image format (TIF) bitmap files.
For example, a report could be saved to a file server HTML or
PDF file for viewing via a company intranet. In addition, notices
of its generation (and an optional file copy) can be emailed to
specified recipients.

A Archival data reports are usually defined by CCC engineers,

using the separate Project Builder software package. One-time
reports can be created by using a third-party program (such as
Microsoft Excel) to manipulate Archive Exporter files.
Features:
• Automatic creation of periodic
and critical event reports
• Report data can be tabulated,
totalled, averaged, and/or
statistically summarized
• New reports can be displayed,
printed, saved to Windows or
UNIX servers, and/or emailed
to specified recipients
