Music Lesson Plan

Title: “Joannie Works With One Hammer” by The Wiggles

Grade Level: Kindergarten

Materials needed: Speaker, CD player, laptop or other device to play song

Procedure:

A.S: How can we count to five? What tools are used to build?
Students will listen, sing, and move (with the instruction) to the following
song. This is a movement lesson that requires students to listen and
recognize the number counts and associated movements.

1. Part one:

● Students will line up, spaced out, facing the teacher.

“Joannie works with one hammer


one hammer, one hammer
Joannie works with one hammer
Then she works with two.”
(Make hammering motion with one fist)
The students, with enough space between them, will move their lower arm up
and down in a hammering motion.

2. Part 2:
“Joannie works with two hammers
two hammers, two hammers
Joannie works with two hammers
then she works with three.”
(Make hammering motion with both fists)
The students, with enough space between them, will move both of their lower
arms up and down in a hammering motion.

3. Part 3:

“Joannie works with three hammers


three hammers, three hammers
Joannie works with three hammers
then she works with four.”
(Make hammering motion with both fists and one leg)
The students, with enough space between them, will move both of their lower
arms and one of their legs, up and down in a hammering motion.

4. Part 4:

“Joannie works with four hammers


four hammers, four hammers
Joannie works with four hammers
then she works with five.”
(Make hammering motion with both fists and both legs)
The students, with enough space between them, will move both of their lower
arms and both of their legs, up and down in a hammering motion.
5. Part 5:

“Joannie works with five hammers


five hammers, five hammers
Joannie works with five hammers
then she goes to sleep.”
(Make hammering motion with both fists and both legs, while nodding head)
The students, with enough space between them, will move both of their lower
arms, both of their legs, and nod their head up and down in a hammering
motion.
