Procedure:
A.S: “Where could you see a pattern?” Let students answer. “What could make a
pattern?” Students answer.
1. Take out color blocks
2. Attach a word association to each color block
3. Attach a movement to each color block (ask students for suggestions)
a. Blue = water = arms moving like a wave
b. Red = hot = waving your body as if you are hot
i. Does not have to be towards a certain object but it can be
c. Orange = feel = cross their arms in a wave motion
d. Yellow = cheese = clap once and create a square with their fingers
e. Green = grass = index fingers up and swat
f. Pink = jump
4. Play lollipop song
5. Put students into three groups (know how many students you have)
6. Have students create a pattern with the color blocks
7. Give each group a specific space to then work
8. Give each group color blocks and line them up on their table to create their
pattern together
9. Have each group go one by one to show the pattern they came up with
through the body movements associated with the color blocks
10.Tell the students who are not presenting to listen and watch group presenting
quietly and politely as they wait for their groups turn
11.Clap after each group takes their turn
12.Ask students after one group goes what colors/patterns they saw in the group
that presented
13.After all groups have had their turn to present their movements, ask students
to put their color blocks back in the bag where they belong
14.Ask students to sit back into a circle
Closure: Go over what movement was for which color block. Go over what
patterns are and where they may happen.
