HEALTH TEACHING PLAN ON

I. Introduction
The Group 11 student nurses from Bicol University Polangui Campus will be conducting an activity entitled “ Gabay sa
Pagpapasuso: A breastfeeding education program in Bagumbayan, Washington Drive Albay
”. This will be held on the 30th day of May at the Barangay Health Center of Bagumbayan, Washington Drive Albay, which could
be participated by the residents of the said barangay specially mother's who are breastfeeding.

“ Gabay sa Pagpapasuso: A breastfeeding education program in Bagumbayan, Washington Drive Albay

” is an activity that aims to have information dissemination and health teaching about the importance of the natural way to give
nourishment to children which is through breastfeeding. This includes teaching the benefits of breastfeeding, colostrum, signs or
cues of breastfeeding, right positioning when breastfeeding and latching, and the right medications that the mother can or cannot
take . Another aim of this activity is to teach and support mothers on how they could ensure the welfare of his/her child. This also
aims to encourage community officials to promote breastfeeding-friendly governmental policies.

II. Health Teaching Objectives

a. General Objective:
Providing public awareness that breastfeeding is the natural way for children to be nourished by increasing the
proportion of breastfed babies in Bagumbayan, Albay through a health teaching program for improvement of health
and well-being of women, infants, children, and families.

b. Specific Learning Objectives:

● To present an accessible health teaching program about Breastfeeding for the mothers of Barangay 8
Bagumbayan, Washington Drive Albay Legazpi City
● Promoting breastfeeding-friendly governmental policy and encouraging active support for breastfeeding among
key community leaders.
● To have a full community participation on the presented health program.

III. Target Listeners and Prerequisites

IV. Course Structure

Time allotment: 1 hour
Purpose:
1. To provide the learners with in-depth knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding
2. To emphasize the importance of giving breastfeeding for 6 months as the optimal way of feeding infants.
3.
Goals:
1. The learners will explain the significance of knowing the what exclusive breastfeeding is and breastfeeding on demand.
2. To enable mothers to establish and sustain exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months.
