Homeschooling should no longer be an option for children.

In recent years, notably after COVID-19, homeschooling has become a go

to alternative for traditional schooling. It provides a wide variety for personalized

learning and encourages students to learn time management, instead of forcing them

into a schedule. While some teachers argue homeschooling is more independent in the

sense that it provides flexibility and self-learning opportunities, it is essential that

parents understand the perks of both and choose the right path for their children.

Homeschooling segregates students from the harshness of life and shields them from

external factors by only making them practice in a controlled environment. Limiting

their adaptability and making them incapable of dealing with the unpredictability of

adult life. This essay will provide convincing arguments to abolish the homeschooling

system, and emphasize the significance of traditional schooling.

Homeschooling obstructs students from forming meaningful bonds and

from being in a diverse atmosphere. A student spending most of their time in their

home, means that they would have developed poor social skills. These lead to not
knowing how to form healthy relationships with people and difficulties in coping with

them throughout life. Thus, others might not appreciate how they act as they do not

have enough experience talking with people in-person. Forming close connections with

people of the same age will make it easier to relate with someone, because of the age gap

it would be impossible to share your thoughts and minor troubles with your parents. By

looking at your friends you will be less self conscious and understand that standards

portrayed in social media and media in general are just propaganda to spend money on

pointless things. While focusing on studies is important, learning about their

environment, society and just people in general is very important for a person to lead a

hassle free life.

Now secondly, homeschooling cages children into a room and never lets

them experience any physical activity. In fact physical education is not even part of their

curriculum. Mental and physical health should be the utmost priority especially for

children, since they are at a point where multiple changes are occurring in their body.

Not having any physical interaction or activity will cause burnout and will lead to them

losing any interest in education. It's ironic that in trying to make students focus on

education it actually ends up making them lose interest in it by forcing them to be too

stationary. Children might not understand it at their age but as they reach their 20’s

they’ll slowly realize the missed opportunities and closed doors because their education

was not up to the standards. Perhaps all they’ve learned was creationism instead of

science, perhaps they can’t communicate their emotions well because their parents

never taught them to. And after observing people who were raised in a proper

traditional schooling they could come to blame their parents.

Finally, homeschooling means there wouldn’t be any competition or

motivation for students to do something extra, per say In regular school, your friends

get more marks than you, you’d be encouraged to put in that little bit of extra time,

which just might be what you need to accomplish what you thought you could never do.

Just looking at other people who are passionate about something, will inspire you to

search for something that is of interest to you. Motivation is very important to

education, and what motivates you is equally as important. In homeschooling you will

have way less opportunities to interact with people with passion. But going to a

traditional school will allow you to see the different reasons why people of their same

age work so hard to accomplish something. And their parents won't be choosing their

children’s path for them in this case.

In conclusion, Homeschooling should no longer be an option for students,

because it causes students to be narrow minded and even affects their mental health.

The right of choosing the way of education should be a student’s own decision, and the

exposure they gain from traditional schooling is universes apart from homeschooling.

While homeschooling might keep your child from abusing their freedom when they are

unmonitored, it will also put them inside a bubble, where they will never understand the

cruelties and unfairness of the world until they reach their adulthood.
