Thiago Silva has issued a message of positivity to

Chelsea fans after the 2-0 defeat against Brentford.
The Brazilian defender has been a stalwart at the
back for the Blues since his arrival from Paris Saint-
Germain back in 2020.

There were hopes of extending their unbeaten run

in all competitions to five heading into the Premier
League clash against Brentford on Saturday. After
Chelsea enjoyed a positive first half and created a
plethora of chances, they were left frustrated at
half-time as the scoreline remained level.

Ethan Pinnock headed the visitors into the lead just

before the hour mark after beating Marc
Cucurella at the back post. The Bees then dropped
back into a strong defensive shape handing Chelsea
the task of breaking them down, which they failed
to do.

With Robert Sanchez caught up for a corner in the

final minutes, a swift Brentford counter-attack
allowed Bryan Mbeumo to seal the victory and
make it three consecutive wins for Thomas Frank's
side away at Chelsea. Despite the absence of
Mykhailo Mudryk and Enzo Fernandez, Chelsea had
enough quality to continue their unbeaten streak,
but ultimately they could not finish the many
opportunities created - most notably by Cole
Palmer.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano revealed this week

that the Blues will be looking to sign a new centre-
back in 2024. This could be to prepare for the
eventuality that Silva will retire in the coming years,
or leave Stamford Bridge and potentially return to
Brazil.

However, it's clear that the veteran defender is not

giving up fighting for the Blues this season despite
their indi!erent start. The 39-year-old has played
every Premier League fixture so far this season and
continues to lead by example in Mauricio
Pochettino's squad.
