LEARNING OBJECTIVES

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT
• Socks x18
• Eyes
• Felt
• Pins
• string
• Pom poms
• Rice
• Paper plates
• Cotton balls
• Glue and glue guns

PREPARATION AND LOGISTICAL CONSIDERATIONS
• Buy all the materials
• Create exemplar—add colour to the toque and give the snowmen strips?
• Video demonstrations and pictures of student work
PROCEDURE
Introduction Time
1) Review with students the different between 2D and 3D.
2) Introduce the art project for the day: Sock Snowmen and a winter
3-5 min
scene (if students have time)
3) See if students have made a sock snowman before.
Body Time
Socks and rice 1) Distribute one sock to each student, keeping one
to demonstrate with.
-instruct students to cut along the seam in the heel
straight across.
-then they will line up at the rice bowls to fill up their
socks: 1.5 cups in the bottom ball-then use white string min
to tie it off tight,
-.5 cup in top ball, then tie it off tight.
Conclusion Time
• Have students help tidy stations up and clean up their scraps.
Assessment
• Students will be observed for completion of creating a 2D and 3D art project.
