Body ❖ Teacher Actions
(Activity #1)
⮚ Instructional Sequence –

▪ We will start the lesson reviewing factors, many kids struggled with
finding factors in the last class.
▪ We need to find factors by looking for them, to do this we test to see if
potential factors evenly divide into our number
▪ Note the relationship between 2 and 4.
▪ After doing some examples on the board move on to prime and
composite numbers
▪ Go through the examples 10,5,9

▪ Extra examples – 12 15 17 21

▪ 0 and 1 are not prime

▪ Vertical spaces prime or composite practice

● 13 27 41 50 63

⮚ Considerations –

▪ Students will work in groups of 3 so they can work through problems

together
▪ Weaker students will be able to be the writer for their group, so they can
still participate in completing the math
⮚ Check for Understanding –

● Gallery walk of the vertical spaces

▪ Plickers exit slip

❖ Student Actions

⮚ Students will give answers during the lecture

▪ Students will break out into groups of 3 so they can work on the
vertical spaces
▪ After doing questions with the vertical spaces students can come back to
do plickers questions to check understanding.
⮚ The student holding the marker doesn’t do the thinking, the non-writers
do the thinking so everyone participates

❖ Assessment Evidence

⮚ formative: visual and auditory formative assessment during the lesson.
