Ch 14--- Water

INTRODUCTION

Total dissolved solids can affect your water quality, your health, your home plumbing
system, and even daily tasks, such as cooking and cleaning. By measuring your water for
TDS, you can better understand your water quality and how it affects your everyday life,
allowing you to make an informed decision to solve your water quality problem and install
the most effective filtration system for your home.

ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS

· Why measuring of TDS of given water samples is essential?

· Based on the level of TDS in each given sample finding its suitability for various uses

· How suitability of water filters installed at a given place depends on TDS levels in water

· How is TDS of water related to health and other daily tasks?

INDIVIDUAL ACTIVITIES

To check the TDS of different samples of water (refer -annexure attached) at home.

TDS WATER CHART :

After measuring the TDS of given water samples answer the following questions:

i)Find the TDS value of the tap water and RO water/ filter water that you drink.

ii)Refer to the TDS water chart and categorize as Excellent, good,fair,poor or unacceptable
iii)How the amount of TDS quantifies the water suitable for drinking or not?

iv)After measuring the TDS value do you think the filter system at your home is sufficing the
need
