When to use application letter?

academic program or an internship
program, and more appropriate for
unsolicited interest, or when there isn't
a job posting.
Three Resume Formats
1. chronological – it follows the
reverse chronological order in which
recent experience is listed first. This
format is not the best choice for
someone with career gaps.
2. functional – lists experience by
function, rather than by job. It focuses on
relevant skills and downplays gaps in your
career. It is useful for applicants who are
changing fields and who want to highlight
their transferable skills.
3. hybrid – combines both the chronological
and functional formats which applicant lists
educational and work history in reverse
chronological order, but highlights functional
skills in each position. This format allows the
job seeker to highlight functional experience.
