Primary Responsibilities:
Grocery Stocking:
The Grocery department offers a wide selection of organic and conventional foods, both packaged
and bulk, as well as refrigerated and frozen foods. Shelves are kept full and always fronted to aid
customers in their selection process. The Grocery department provides foods of the highest
quality, with the widest selection and best value possible.
Follow proper lifting and handling procedures to ensure personal health and safety.
Open boxes carefully and safely so as not to cut the products or yourself.
Efficiently stock products from storage or delivery areas to sales floor.
Place merchandise on shelves or in refrigerated cases, checking shelf tags to ensure that
products are shelved precisely in the correct location, with labels facing out and dated for
freshness and proper product rotation.
Remove and record damaged, out-of-date, and spoiled products.
Face shelves, making product readily available and easily identifiable to customers.
Maintain clear pathways in aisles when stocking while the store is open.
For overstock, combine partial cases into single, well-labeled cases, and return all product
to designated backstock areas.
Stack and/or break down boxes while stocking. Recycle empty boxes.
Take initiative to stay productive throughout the shift.
Customer Service:
Customer service is at the center of everything we do. Staff are expected to treat customers in a
respectful and courteous manner, paying close attention to their individual needs.
Greet and offer assistance to customers.
Be open and ready to assist customers, fielding their questions, concerns and requests.
Assist customers in all departments in a prompt, friendly, courteous manner.

Answer and resolve phone inquiries as needed.
Resolve customer complaints in a fair and tactful manner.
Create avenues for communication and achieve results by promoting teamwork and
working collaboratively.
Communication:
Communicate respectfully, openly and honestly.
Listen attentively to others, ask questions, and remain open to other viewpoints.
Practice empathic listening skills.
Other
Sweep up debris in aisles and walkways. Mop up spilled liquids or tracked in rain and
snow.
Dust and wipe shelves, cases and products and maintain an overall clean presentation of
the store.
Assist in the preparation of fresh foods such as cheese slicing, fish preparation, and others,
in accordance with safe food-handling practices and procedures.
Review invoices for accuracy and make corrections where necessary, including signing the
invoices in the correct fashion.
After delivery is checked in make sure it is distributed to the correct department or person.
Maintain a clean and organized receiving room.
Assist in fulfillment of online orders as required.
Other tasks as assigned by manager, such as managing small vendor orders, up to 4 hours
per week.
Personal care and attention should be directed to all customers to ensure that shopping at
Fiddleheads Food Cooperative is as comfortable and satisfying as possible. The grocery stocker is
responsible for providing excellent customer service.

Follow storewide policies & procedures and the expectations outlined in the Employee
Handbook.
Provide customer service in other areas of the store as needed.
Accept other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
