• Choose one of the options and write an essay about Hamlet. Answer all the
questions included in the option you chose.

1. Analyze Hamlet as a character.

▪ Discuss his plan. What is it? Do you think it is a good or bad
plan?
▪ Can you compare Hamlet to any other character in fiction?
2. Compare Ophelia to Lady Macbeth
▪ Who is Ophelia? Discuss the character and give your opinion
on her.
▪ What similarities and differences can you see in Lady Macbeth
and Ophelia?
▪ What can we learn of Ophelia?
3. Discuss the themes of Hamlet.
▪ Reflect upon death as a theme in Hamlet; what are the different
perspectives of death in the story?
▪ Reflect upon how mental health is discussed on the story.
▪ Reflect upon lies and acting in Hamlet.

CATEGORY 2 (21 – 50 marks)

• PART A: Choose one of the options and write an essay about Hamlet. Answer
all the questions included in the option you chose.

• PART B: Present the story of Hamlet in an oral presentation. Use the following
questions to guide yourself:
1. When was it written?
2. Where does the story take place?
3. When does the story start?
4. Who are the characters? Can you see heroes and villains?
5. What does Hamlet want? What’s his plan?
6. What are the complications the story presents to Hamlet?
7. How does it end?
CATEGORY 3 (1 – 20 marks)

• PART A: You have to take a short test. You can have the material with you
during the test.
1. Focus on the most important vocabulary of the story.
2. You have to show both understanding of the text and its
vocabulary.
3. There will be no grammar activities, but you have to show
understanding of comparatives / past simple / present perfect
structures.
4. You will have 4 activities: a short quiz, a recognition of
vocabulary, a matching activity, and a short writing activity where
you give your opinion on the story quoting the text.
