Project 2: Analysis Project

People live their lives day to day with little consideration of the potential dangers or the
safeguards in place to protect them. This project will have you looking at a city of your
choosing and evaluating the potential disasters, the safeguards put into place, and how
new safeguards could be used.

DUE: December 1, 2023 by 11:59PM EST

INSTRUCTIONS:
• Choose any city
o Can be global, does not have to be in the U.S.
• Research general properties of that city
o Population
o Location
• Describe the general environment of the city
o Climate
o What environment surrounds it?
o What is the geology of the area?
• What are the potential natural disasters that could impact the city?
o Describe the factors that cause them to form?
o How could they be hazardous to the city?
• Describe any safety measures the city has in place to prevent disasters
o What are they?
o When were they implemented?
• Evaluate the state of preparedness for your city
o How effective have safety measures been?
o Will the safety measures be effective
o Is there more than can done?
o What would you do?
o How would you implement it?
o What limitations are there?

REFERENCES/CITATIONS:
• Include a "Works Cited" page and include any sources you use
o Use in-text citations for any information obtained from these sources

Late Submissions
o 1 day late: -30 points off of the student’s earned score▪
Example: A project that is 1 day late that would have earned 100 points if submitted on
