EXPERIMENT 3 – MS WORD – WORKING WITH TEXT ANDOBJECTS

Learn various ways in which texts and objects can be edited

Time Required : 3 hrs Programming Language : NIL
Software Required : MS Office 2013 or above
Hardware Required : NIL

Text editing:
Lists:
Bulleted and numbered lists can be used in your documents to outline, arrange, and emphasize text.
In this lab, you will learn how to modify existing bullets, insert new bulleted and numbered lists,
select symbols as bullets, and format multilevel lists.
Hyperlinks, Bookmarks, Cross Reference: Adding hyperlinks to text can provide access to
websites and email addresses directly from your document. There are a few ways to insert a
hyperlink into your document. Depending on how you want the link to appear, you can use Word's
automatic link formatting or convert text into a link.
Breaks:
Adding breaks to your document can make it appear more organized and can improve the flow of
text. Depending on how you want to change the pagination or formatting of your document, you
can apply a page break or a section break.
Columns:
Sometimes the information you include in your document is best displayed in columns. Not only
can columns help improve readability, but some types of documents—like newspaper articles,
newsletters, and flyers—are often written in column format. Word also allows you to adjust your
columns by adding column breaks.
Header, Footer and Page Numbers: The header is a section of the document that appears in
the top margin, while the footer is a section of the document that appears in the bottom margin.
Headers and footers generally contain additional information such as page numbers, dates, an
author's name, and footnotes, which can help keep longer documents organized and make them
easier to read. Text entered in the header or footer will appear on each page of the document.

Object editing:
Pictures and Text Wrapping: Adding pictures to your document can be a great way to illustrate
important information or add decorative accents to existing text. Used in moderation, pictures
canimprove the overall appearance of your document.
Formatting Pictures:
There are a variety of ways to format pictures in your document. Depending on how the images are
used and where they are placed, you can use Word's picture tools to personalize and modify them
in interesting ways.

Provinces of Pakistan

Pakistan has four provinces:

❖ Provinces of
Pakistan

Structure of administrative units

Administrative units are set up on a hierarchical/cascade structure. For example: from country to
province, then district, division and location. This could also be explained as a form of a parent unit
to a child unit relationship.

The four provinces, capital territory and two autonomous territories of Pakistan are subdivided into
39 administrative "divisions", which are further subdivided into districts, tehsils and finally union
councils. These divisions were abolished in 2000, but restored in 2008.

Division in the Provinces:

PUNJAB: 4

Punjab is the most populous province of Pakistan, containing more than half the country's total
population as well as several of its major cities: Lahore, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Multān, and

Gujranwala. There is considerable rural-to-urban migration in the province, especially to the larger
cities.

❖ Divisions in Punjab

SINDH:
Sindh also spelled Sind, province of southeastern Pakistan. It is bordered by the provinces of
Baluchistan on the west and north, Punjab on the northeast, the Indian states of Rajasthan and
Gujarat to the east, and the Arabian Sea to the south.

provinces. Its population, according to 2017 census, is 12.34 million, having a low density per
square kilometer.

❖ Divisions in Baluchistan

Khyber Pashtun khawa:

Khyber Pashtun khawa is the land of hospitality, mesmerizing landscapes, comprehensive culture,

Pakistani Flag

The national flag of Pakistan, also known as the Flag of the Star and
Crescent (Urdu: ‫)پرچم ستارہ و ہالل‬,
ِ is made up of a green field with a stylized tilted
white crescent moon and five-pointed star at its center, and a vertical white stripe at its
hoist-end. Though the specific shade of green
on the flag is mandated only as 'dark green', its
official and most consistent representation
is in Pakistan green, which is shaded
distinctively darker. It was adopted by
the Constituent Assembly of
Pakistan on 11 August 1947, and it became the
official flag of the Dominion of
Pakistan on 14 August 1947,
following independence
from the British Empire. The flag was
subsequently retained as that of the Islamic
Republic of Pakistan in 1956, and
remains in use as the national flag till this
day.
Most notably, the flag is referred to in the third verse of Pakistan's national anthem,
and is widely flown on several important days of the year, including Republic
Day, Independence Day and Defense Day. It is also hoisted every morning at schools,
offices and government buildings to the playing of the national anthem and lowered
again before sunset. A very elaborate flag-raising and lowering ceremony is carried out
every evening by the Pakistan Rangers and their Indian Border Security
Force counterparts at the Wagah–Atari border crossing between India and Pakistan ,
which is regularly attended by hundreds of spectators. The Government of Pakistan has
formalized rules and regulations related to the flying of the national flag; it is to be
displayed all day at full-mast on 23 March annually to commemorate the adoption of

of Pakistan as an independent Islamic
republic with a constitution in 1956, both of which occurred on the same day. The same
regulations also apply on 14 August annually, in celebration of Pakistan's day of
independence; when the country was carved out from erstwhile British India as the
homeland and nation-state for the Muslims of the Indian subcontinent.
