Lam: Hi
Loan: Hello, nice to see you
Lam: Last time I saw you I didn’t have a chance to get to know more about you, so
I’m wondering if I can ask you some questions right now
Loan: Oh just go ahead, I would love to get to know about you too
Lam: So what are your interests or hobbies?
Loan: I love (…….) writing so much. It became an outlet for me to express
myself.
Lam: Oh why do you love (……) writing?
Loan: (…….) From a young age, I was drawn to the world of books. As I grew
older, my love for reading evolved into a passion for writing. Through writing, I
have learned the power of words and how they can inspire change or heal wounds.
Lam: That’s great of you!
Loan: And how about your hobbies?
Lam: I like taking photos and filming videos of my daily life
Loan: Why?
Lam: Because those memories that I took just happen once in my life and never
come back so that’s why I want to keep as much of them as I can.
Loan: Wow that’s amazing. Oh so sorry, I have to go now. Next time I see you
again I will talk to you more.

Lam: Hi
Loan: Hello, nice to see you
Lam: Last time I saw you I didn’t have a chance to get to know more about you, so
I’m wondering if I can ask you some questions right now
Loan: Oh just go ahead, I would love to get to know about you too
Lam: What means of transport do you usually use?
Loan: I don’t have a car so I usually use public transport, you know, like trains,
buses, trams,…
Lam: So what’s your favorite means of transport?
Loan: My favorite way to travel is by train because it’s quick, convenient, reliable,
and especially punctual. What I like most about this type of transport is that I can
totally forget about traffic congestion and therefore pollution. Plus, the rail fare is
quite quite affordable for a student like me.
Loan: And how about you? Do you usually travel by train?
Lam: I don't usually travel by train actually. It makes me feel dizzy all the time
and the facilities of most of the trains are kinda bad recently.
Loan: Oh, so what’s your favorite means of transport?
Lam: I specially like airplane since I was a child so when I had my first time
travelling by plane to Hanoi, I was extremely excited because I could have a
chance to watch a beautiful scene of sky that I had always dreamed about.
Moreover, I love how fast and comfortable it is. The services are great too. That's
why I will keep travelling again by plane.
Loan: Wow that’s amazing. Oh so sorry, I have to go now. Next time I see you
again I will talk to you more.
Lam: Sure, I would love to. See you later!

Your most memorable journey – Topic 3

Lam: Hi
Loan: Hello, nice to see you
Lam: Last time I saw you I didn’t have a chance to get to know more about you, so
I’m wondering if I can ask you some questions right now
Loan: Oh just go ahead, I would love to get to know about you too
Lam: I know that you are a lover of traveling everywhere whenever you have time.
So which journey was the most memorable for you?
Loan: My most memorable journey was when I traveled to the stunning city of
Hoi An, Vietnam. The moment I stepped foot in this ancient town, I was captivated
by its charm and rich history. Walking through the narrow streets, lined with
colorful lanterns and old buildings, felt like stepping back in time.
Lam: So what made that journey the most memorable?
Loan: What truly made this journey unforgettable was witnessing a breathtaking
sunrise on An Bang Beach. As the sun painted the sky with hues of orange and
pink, I felt a sense of tranquility wash over me.
Loan: What about your most memorable journey, Lam?
Lam: To me, my most memorable one was going to Hanoi for the first time with
my friends in primary school. At that time, I was in the fifth grade. Therefore,
everything was new and I was so excited to see all the tourist attractions of this
beautiful capital of Vietnam.
Loan: So why did this journey remarkable to you?
Lam: To be honest, I had a dream of visiting Hanoi a long long time ago. And I
made it! Being able to see Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum was everything I could talk
about again and again. When I got my feet landed on that area, I had a mixed
feeling of proud, emotional and I showed all my respect for our greatest hero -
HCM president. Moreover, I got a chance to see the Temple of Literature, which
was also a great visit to me. But what I really love more was the ancient vibe of
Hanoi streets and buildings. They made me feel peaceful and refreshing.
Loan: Wow so good to hear that! Oh so sorry, I have to go now. Hope to talk to
you more next time.
Lam: Okay see you later!

How green are you? – Topic 4

Lam: Hi
Loan: Hello, nice to see you
Lam: Last time I saw you I didn’t have a chance to get to know more about you, so
I’m wondering if I can ask you some questions right now
Loan: Oh just go ahead, I would love to get to know about you too
Lam: Nowadays environment has become a hot topic in every conversation.
Therefore, I really want to know “How green are you?” I mean, what do you do
that helps the environment be more “green”?
Loan: (…ý 1…..) One of the crucial aspects of being green is reducing waste. I
started by incorporating reusable items into my routine – from shopping bags to
water bottles – and actively sought out products with minimal packaging.
Lam: What else do you do besides that?
Loan: (…ý 2…..) Transportation played a vital role in my journey toward
sustainability. Instead of relying solely on cars for commuting short distances, I
embraced walking or cycling whenever possible. This not only reduced emissions
but also allowed me to appreciate nature's beauty firsthand.
Lam: That’s really awesome!
Loan: What about you? I also want to know “How green are you?”
Lam: For me, I feel like I am much of a green person since I like composting trash.
Because our household produces less trash, and all our vegetable leftovers
eventually turn into new soil for our garden.
Loan: Anything else?
Lam: I also reuse greywater, which is the water that is left over from washing
dishes, showering, and bathing, for watering plants in my garden. It’s an effective
way to save water and save money as well.
Loan: Wow that’s amazing. Oh so sorry, I have to go now. Next time I see you
again I will talk to you more.
Lam: Sure, I would love to. See you later!

Festivals in Vietnam – Topic 5

Lam: Hi
Loan: Hello, nice to see you
Lam: Last time I saw you I didn’t have a chance to get to know more about you, so
I’m wondering if I can ask you some questions right now
Loan: Oh just go ahead, I would love to get to know about you too
Lam: I know that in Vietnam there are many festivals. But what festival is the
most special one to you?
Loan: (…….) The Mid-autumn Festival holds a special place in my heart, as it is a
celebration that brings together family and friends. During this festival, lanterns are
lit, mooncakes are shared, and dragon dances fill the streets.
Lam: Can you elaborate more about that festival?
Loan: (…….) As a child, I eagerly awaited this festival every year, excited to
witness the vibrant lanterns lighting up the night sky. The festival was not just
about the mooncakes and delicious food; it was about the sense of unity and love
that filled the air. My family would gather around a table filled with traditional
delicacies and share stories and laughter late into the night. Even though years
have passed since those childhood days, memories of The Mid-autumn Festival
continue to bring warmth to my heart. It serves as a reminder of the importance of
family bonds and cherishing traditions that connect us to our roots.
Lam: Wow that’s great!
Loan: I want to know your favorite festival in Vietnam too.
Lam: For me, every time a tourist asks me about which festival they should join, I
would say the Lunar New Year, also known as Tet.
Loan: Why would you say that?
Lam: I think this is Vietnam’s largest and most important festival of the year. It
often falls between late January and early February and lasts for 3 days. This
holiday is a time to honor ancestors, show respect for elders, and wish for good
fortune in the new year. During Tet, people typically take some days off from work
or school, many businesses and shops are closed for several days so that we can
have family unions to catch up with each other. We clean our homes from top to
bottom to get rid of any bad luck or negative energy from the previous year.
Besides, people prepare traditional food such as banh chung, dried candied fruit,
braised pork and eggs, etc. and decorate the house with peach or apricot blossoms.
Plus, there are many festive activities and events, such as dragon dances, firework
displays, and traditional games. Especially, children can receive lucky money from
adults as a way to give them wishes for the new year.
I would say in recent years, Tet has lost its original spirit and most adults treat it as
a normal holiday in which they can have 2 weeks off to release stress. However, to
me, Tet holiday is still a special festival of Vietnam because it is the perfect time to
spend quality time with my family and friends, to review what we have done
throughout the past year. I also love the festive atmosphere and the delicious food
that is prepared during this time. Tet is a celebration of our culture and traditions,
and it brings a sense of unity and community to our country.
Loan: Wow that’s amazing to hear about yours. Oh so sorry, I have to go now.
Next time I see you again I will talk to you more.
Lam: Sure, I would love to. See you later!
