If you won a lottery of 1 billion VND, what would you do: buying a

If I won a lottery of 1 billion VND, I would definitely buy a flat because at

the moment I have to pay rent.

Well, there is a saying that a rolling stone gather no moss (khô ng an cư thi
khô ng lạ c nghiệp).

I think it's true that a stable accommodation would lead to a stable job.

I know that with 1 billion VND, I can only afford a flat far from a city centre
so I would obtain a loan from the bank or borrow some money from family
and friends.

I don't choose to buy gold becaus will be able to buy a lot of gold Then, I
would be worried about where to keep it.

Regarding saving in know, the price goes up and down and with I billion
VND, I the bank, I think it isn'ta good idea for me to do so because right now
the interest rate is very low-just about 6% a year.

Moreover, money will lose its value when we keep it in the bank because of
inflation.

In short, I would opt to buy a house if I were in the situation.

TOPIC 2: Nếu có cơ hội ra nước ngoài, bạn muốn đi đâu…?

Someone once asked me: "If you have a lot of money, what would you do?".
My answer is that I will travel around the world. Especially where I want to
visit America. At this point I can visit the Statue of Liberty-a symbol of
America.

The United States renowned for the most modern cities such as New York,
Los angeles, ... and I want to be once you arrive here. Referring to the U.S.
not to mention a Harvard-renowned universities and leading my dream to
study in this school.

Another reason that makes me want to visit the United States by the
cinematic appeal of this place. The films produced by Hollywood, especially
action films really attracted me.

I wanted to come here to see firsthand these films were produced and how
special that can meet my idol: Jason Statham action-a famous actor.

 TOPIC 3: GOOD HOLIDAY
One of my unforgettable vacations was the trip to Sa Pa last winter. I went there
with my best friends. We moved there by cars and it took us 6 hours to drive
from Ha Noi to Sa Pa. Arriving at 4 a.m in the morning but we stayed inside the
car and waited until 6a.m to check in in the hotel. Sa Pa is the most popular
attraction in Viet Nam because of its breathtaking views, mountainous sights
and local cultures. We saw the mountains and climbed to the top of Fansipan –
the highest mount in Indochina. We went to Cat Cat village and joint the local
markets to buy handicrafts and local products. Cuisine here was specially
attractive. We tried “thit trau gac bep” , “com lam”, … There was snow and it was
also the first time we saw it, the feeling was actually amazing. We made a snow
man and took photos with it. After 3 days, we came back Ha Noi and now we still
miss the Sa Pa’s beauty. We will come back there one day, I promise.

Một trong những kỳ nghỉ không thể nào quên của tôi là chuyến đi đến
Sa Pa mùa đông năm ngoái. Tôi đến đó với những người bạn tốt nhất
của tôi. Chúng tôi di chuyển đến đó bằng xe ô tô và mất 6 giờ lái xe từ
Hà Nội đến Sa Pa. Đến đó lúc 4 giờ sáng nhưng chúng tôi ở lại trong xe
và đợi đến 6 giờ sáng để nhận phòng tại khách sạn. Sa Pa là điểm thu
hút khách phổ biến nhất ở Việt Nam vì cảnh quan ngoạn mục, phong
cảnh miền núi và văn hoá địa phương. Chúng tôi đã nhìn thấy những
ngọn núi và leo lên đỉnh Fansipan - ngọn núi cao nhất Đông Dương.
Chúng tôi đến làng Cát Cát và tham gia các chợ làng để mua hàng thủ
công và các sản phẩm địa phương. Ẩm thực ở đây đặc biệt hấp dẫn.
Chúng tôi đã thử "thịt trâu gác bếp", "cơm lam", ... Có tuyết và đó cũng
là lần đầu tiên chúng tôi nhìn thấy nó, cảm giác thực sự là tuyệt vời.
Chúng tôi đã làm một tuyết và chụp ảnh với nó. Sau ba ngày, chúng tôi
trở lại Hà Nội và bây giờ chúng tôi vẫn nhớ vẻ đẹp của Sa Pa. Chúng tôi
sẽ trở lại một ngày nào đó, tôi hứa.

Surrounded by deadlines and assignments every day, having a day off

would be a blessing, to be honest. Then I will have time to hang out with
friends, play my favorite game, or simply rest in my bedroom, listening to
some music. So I can say that I look forward to every holiday of the year.

Well, I like the long holidays, you know, the kind of seven to ten days
without work, like Christmas in the West, or the Lunar New Year in the
North. I think with this stress-free time we have, we can rebalance our lives
by spending more quality time with family and friends.
Ờm, tôi thích những kì nghỉ dài ngày, bạn biết đấy, cái loại có khoảng bảy
tới mười ngày không cần đi làm, giống như Giáng Sinh ở các nước
phương Tây, hay Tết Âm Lịch ở phương Bắc. Tôi nghĩ với khoảng thời
gian không có stress mà bản thân sở hữu này, chúng ta có thể cân bằng

The holiday season in big cities like Hanoi gives us a wide range of exciting
activities to choose from, suitable for all ages. For me, I like going out to eat
with friends. Because of the chaotic life of college students, we don't get to
see each other often. I also enjoy spending time on a picnic or vacationing
in the suburbs with my family. Those are certainly the rare times when I get
to escape the chaos of the city.

Mùa nghỉ lễ tại những thành phố lớn như Hà Nội cho chúng ta lựa chọn rất
nhiều hoạt động hấp dẫn, phù hợp với mọi lứa tuổi. Với tôi, tôi thích đi ăn

I prefer travelling in a group as it’s always safe and most affordable. Also when we
go on a trip as a group we are bonded with different type of people and make a lot
beautiful ,sour and sweet memories. Tôi thích đi du lịch theo nhóm vì nó luôn
an toàn và giá cả phải chăng nhất. Ngoài ra, khi chúng ta đi du lịch với tư
cách là một nhóm, chúng ta được gắn kết với nhiều loại người khác nhau
và tạo ra rất nhiều kỷ niệm đẹp, chua và ngọt.

5, What do most people do during their holidays in your country? Why?

(Người dân nước bạn thường làm gì vào ngày nghỉ lễ? Tại sao?)

I think most of us will spend time with loved ones. However, I also believe
that the holidays are also a good opportunity for people to pursue a
personal hobby, or even start a new habit. My father, for example, has a
passion for gardening. But he doesn't have time to take care of them, at
least until the weekend. So it's easy to see why he feels extremely content
with the holidays.

Tôi cho rằng đa số chúng tôi sẽ dành thời gian với người thân. Tuy nhiên,
tôi cũng tin rằng những ngày nghỉ lễ cũng là cơ hội tốt để mọi người theo
đuổi sở thích cá nhân, hay thậm chí là bắt đầu một thói quen mới. Bố tôi, ví
dụ, có niềm đam mê với việc làm vườn. Nhưng ông ấy không có thời gian
để chăm sóc chúng, ít nhất là cho tới cuối tuần. Vậy cũng dễ hiểu tại sao

If the choice is in my hands, I’m yearning for travelling to […..] on
Christmas vacation when the weather is neither too cold nor too hot. There
I can contemplate the picturesque scenery.
Nếu sự lựa chọn nằm trong tay tôi , tôi khao khát được đi du lịch [… ..]

I would like to visit New York and also Switzerland. These are my most
favourite and desired destinations because of their scenic beauty and also
the people who are very generous and sweet.

LIVING IN THE CITY

City life offers many advantages.

In the first place, people in urban areas can have higher standard of living.

People living in cities can be provided with higher quality health care
service simply because central hospitals equipped with modern
technologies and employing highly qualified doctors are o'en ing cities
rather than the countryside.

Beside , there are more entertainment facilities in big cities, for example,
cinemas, theme parks, shopping centres and so on, which make city life
more attractive and comfortable.

Secondly, people living in urban areas can have more employment

opportunities withe much higher salaries. You know, more factories and
big companies which offer well paid jobs ares located in big cities. It means
that people find it easier to look for work.

Last but not least, people living in urban areas can benefit from better
education. The education system from kindergartens to universities in
eities is far better than that in rural areas because a great deal of money is
invested in modernizing facilities and recruiting excellent teachers.

Besides, you know, there are more top colleges and universities in cities.

In a nutshell, living in the city brings people many plus points.

Cuộc sống thành phố mang lại nhiều thuận lợi. Trước hết, người dân thành
thị có thể có mức sống cao hơn. Người dân sống ở các thành phố có thể
được cung cấp dịch vụ chăm sóc sức khỏe chất lượng cao hơn đơn giản vì
các bệnh viện trung ương được trang bị công nghệ hiện đại và sử dụng
bác sĩ có trình độ chuyên môn cao ở thành phố chứ không phải ở nông
thôn. Bên cạnh đó, ở các thành phố lớn ngày càng có nhiều cơ sở vui chơi
giải trí như rạp chiếu phim, công viên giải trí, trung tâm mua sắm, v.v., làm
cho cuộc sống thành phố trở nên hấp dẫn và tiện nghi hơn. Thứ hai,
những người sống ở khu vực thành thị có thể có nhiều cơ hội việc làm hơn

I live in Ho Chi Minh city. It’s the biggest city in Vietnam. I’ve been living
here for 3 years and I believe it’s the place that suits me most.

The city has great culture to explore and offers good opportunities of
career and education. Despite the fact that it’s crowded all year round and
traffic is a real issue here, it’s an ideal place to meet people from over the
world. It’s always changing so you’ll hardly get bored at this sleepless city.

I you prefer to live in your own country. It’s very likely that I would settle in
Vietnam for my entire life. I truly feel happy and belong here. Although I’d love to
relocate to a more advanced country like Japan or the States for a while, living
away from my loved ones for good would be tough for me really.( Có, rất có thể tôi

I’d say that Dalat would probably be the most fantastic place for me to reside. It’s
situated in the central highlands of Vietnam and enjoys mild and pleasant
weather all year round. That’s why it is widely known as the city of eternal
spring. Dalat is also renowned for spectacular sceneries with mountains, hills and
lakes. On top of that, its soil is extremely fertile, making it a wonderland of

That’s an intriguing question. I take great pride in our cultural heritage but what
I’m most proud of is our national sense of unity. This, I believe, is what has kept
us together as a nation and helped us to overcome the ravages of multiple wars
and natural disasters. For example, we have successfully contained the

Well, I learnt a lot during our history classes at school but all I can remember is
that we are a war-ridden country. Besides, my dad was formerly a soldier and I
truly enjoy his accounts of major battles and historical events. It’s the turbulent
history that made us known across the globe but we’d rather forget it all together

I do. It’s not that I’m a shopaholic or something. I just enjoy the activity

for groceries. Whenever I walk into a grocery store, it’s the instant feeling
of freshness that always excites me.

to catch on new fashion trends but whenever I have an eye for an item, I

One of the most memorable meals that I have ever eaten was a couple of
years ago when I was sick, well actually, just recovered from sickness. I had
digestive disorder so I could not eat anything but bland porridge for a

staying at home went just fine, I had enough to entertain me. In fact, I felt
relax because I had time to binge watch my favorite drama. However, by
the end of that week, I could not stand that meal. I could not even think
about it. Fortunately, I was getting better so I could eat other dishes. My
mother made me spaghetti with beef and mushroom which she knew was
my favourite. It was a basic Italian dish that instantly made my mood
improve. It did not take much time and energy to cook though; basically,
there were ground beef, sliced fresh mushrooms, chopped garlic and onions
served with tomato sauce and topped with . It tasted like heaven to me. The
ground beef was savoury mixed with a little cheesy flavor. My mom
homemade meal was not only appetizing but also nutritious because I was
not consuming protein and fat for a whole week.

My mom and dad ate it too but I knew they did not enjoy it as much as I
did. I tucked into it and even craved for more. This was a memorable meal
thanks to the caring and loving of my mother and her eagerness to lift my
spirits while I was trapped in my house.

I would say the most popular form of exercise is going to the gym. I’m in

cheaper than where I live. After that, my family visited the Night Market to

and it was awesome, a perfect food for a cool night. On the next few days,
we visited different tourist attractions such as the Love Valley, the Pongour
waterfall,… There were many tourists also coming there. 

In Dalat, we can enjoy the 4 seasons in just one day, that is amazing.
Perhaps, I will visit Dalat again this summer!

incomes, they are able to earn money to cover their costs of living and

importance and are the key to their future success. Indeed, soft skills are
seen to be as important as hard skills in today society. More importantly,

climb up the career ladder successfully.

On the other hand, working part time could also be a double-edged sword.
Indeed, the juveniles could place a heavy emphasis on working and get

focus towards their temporary jobs and miss a wealth of knowledge and
skills that schools or universities are offering. This might give rise to
detrimental effects on their studies and their long-term careers. Taken
together, I believe that students should also pay attention to their
workloads to assure that enough time and effort might be spent on their
studies.

In conclusion, whilst there are convincing explanations regarding why

many young people take a keen interest in having a part-time job, I
sincerely believe that students should also lay great emphasis on their
studies for the sake of their long-term success.

Yes, I do. Learning a new language is like learning about a new culture and
I always take a keen interest in various cultures around the world. Also, the
ability to speak a foreign language fluently can open the door to many
more opportunities such as a good job in an international enterprise.

Yes I will! I’m thinking of learning Chinese simply because I want to

understand the Chinese culture more. I always believe that to understand
one culture, we should live in that community, learn the local language
and establish a close rapport with the local people.

I believe that apart from those who have an innate ability to learn foreign
languages, nobody dares to say that learning a new language
is straightforward. Generally, some languages are totally different in
grammar, pronunciation, sentence construction and such like.

Topic 16: Clubs at University

At my university there are many clubs and teams. And I also joined a club
called CEO Guitar Club. It's a music club. Most of the members have
different talents. Some people play musical instruments such as guitar,
drums, cajon or piano. Some of them have great vocals, others raps, they're
all amazing!! I'm a rapper, sometimes I'll be the host at the club.

We have activities together once a week on Tuesday night.In addition, we

also organize music nights at tea rooms and cafes.And sometimes we have
picnics together. We carry the sound everywhere we go.
For me, this club is fun, it's passion, it's everything. It helps me make many
new friends, helps me relax after school, helps me live my passion.
I really love my club!!
