The value of Indonesia's digital economy is estimated to reach around US$77 billion in 2023, an
increase of 22% from the previous year. This was conveyed by Google, Temasek, and Bain & Company
in the 2023 SEA e-Conomy report. The report records the digital economic value of Southeast Asian
countries based on gross merchandise value (GMV), namely the value of gross sales of goods and
services during a certain period. In Indonesia, the largest GMV in 2023 will come from the e-
commerce sector with an estimated value of US$56 billion.

Then other digital economy sectors, namely transportation services and ordering meals, ordering
travel tickets, and online media, each of which has a GMV of under US$10 billion as shown in the
graph.Google, Temasek, and Bain & Company project that Indonesia's digital economy will continue
to grow and remain the largest in Southeast Asia until 2030.

However, there are a number of macroeconomic challenges that have the potential to weigh on
these growth prospects. With the economic slowdown and weak labor market, non-essential
consumer spending will reduce and fuel and food prices, as well as the depreciation of Southeast
Asian currencies are pushing up transport and delivery rates. food. The lack of product availability
due to the pandemic policy in China also hampers logistics flows and reduces consumer access to
goods.
