Mindanao!
YUMI: We've all gathered here to perform our masterwork after days of hard work and
considerable effort! But, first and foremost, I would like everyone to stand for the invocation,
which will be followed by the singing of the national anthem.
*INVOCATION/NATIONAL ANTHEM*
ANGELO: Please be seated.
YUMI: Wow! I can feel the excitement of our audience and performers from here, Angelo!
ANGELO: I agree! And I don’t want to hold their excitement much longer!
YUMI: However, we could not have begun this program without the wise and encouraging
words of our head project director, who spearheaded the program and guided the entire block to
ensure the success of this presentation.
ANGELO: Let us welcome, Mr. Justine Dave Paquit, a round of applause, please.
*JUSTINE DAVE PAQUIT OPENING REMARKS*
YUMI: Thank you for those Edamazing and Edainspiring words, Mr. Justine. That will surely
excite and inspire our performers to perform their best of the best today!
ANGELO: So, ladies and gentlemen, are you all ready to embark on this EDAwesome and
EDAmusing cultural presentation?
YUMI: The Visayas, also known as the Philippines' heart, is a mesmerizing archipelago in the
country's core region. It is a place steeped in history, influenced by a diverse range of cultures,
and known for its lively traditions and artistic manifestations. Today, we go on a tour that will
reveal the many layers of Visayan culture, giving you a glimpse into the heart of this
extraordinary region.
ANGELO: This presentation will show you how the Visayan culture is a perfect blend of
indigenous customs, Spanish influences, and the vivid spirit of the Filipino people. So, without
further ado, let us begin our cultural tour of the Visayas. Prepare to be fascinated, enlightened,
and enthralled by this place's remarkable beauty and diversity. Have fun watching the show!
*VISAYAS PERFORMANCE*
ANGELO: Wow! What an astonishing performance from Visayas group! I can really see that the
audience enjoyed watching that spectacular performance, isn’t that right guys?
YUMI: That is indeed an Edamazing performance, Angelo. It showcased the incredible and
unique culture of Visayas . What a nice presentation you got there, team Visayas!
ANGELO: Before we move on to the next performance. We need to take a breather first! Let us
welcome these beautiful and talented ladies for their dance intermission!
YUMI: Let us welcome with applause, Christa, Akiya, Thea, and Beth!
*INTERMISSION NUMBER 1*
ANGELO: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to this spectacular evening of entertainment!
Wasn’t the first intermission number simply breathtaking? The energy in this room is
tremendous right now, and I can’t wait to see what our talented performers have in store for us
for the rest of this EDAMazing event!
ANGELO: Luzon is a beautiful island located at the heart of the Philippines, serving as the
country's economic and political center. It is home to the stunning Philippine capital city of
Manila, known for its mountains, beaches, and coral reefs. Manila is situated on a deep bay and
is famous for its breathtaking sunsets. The city boasts numerous landmarks from the Spanish
colonial era, national memorials, monuments, a centuries-old Chinatown, and a variety of
museums, making it a diverse and interesting tourist destination. This island has a rich and
unique culture that has been preserved from generation to generation. Luzon has never failed to
amaze us with its fascinating culture. It has a captivating and spectacular way of showcasing its
culture through festivals, cultural dances, courtship practices, and wedding practices. Sit back,
relax, and enjoy the show as we take you on an adventure to the amazing culture of Luzon.
*LUZON PERFORMANCE*
ANGELO: A-mazing! One word to describe that performance! I love how it really gave pride and
honor to the very diverse yet rich culture of Luzon.
YUMI: I am very happy that we performed well, Angelo. Though I know that this lady will
perform even better!
ANGELO: For another EDAmazing intermission number, let me call Ms. Julia Sofia Retuya.
Let’s give her a round of applause, please.
*INTERMISSION JULIA*
YUMI: Wow! A lovely girl with a lovely voice, reminding us that we are Filipinos and we should
be proud of our country, as well as give pride by honoring our rich culture. We have much more
in store for you this morning! At the southern part of the Philippine archipelago lies an island
that, just like the previously mentioned islands, is rich in cultural heritage and resources. This is
the island of Mindanao! Known as the second-largest island just right after Luzon, it is a region
in which the majority is made up of indigenous or ethnic minority groups such as the
Maguindanao, T’boli, and Maranao tribes. It is home to various cultural heritages that are
popular throughout the Philippines: the Mt. Apo volcano found in Davao City, the T’nalak
weaving process from the T’boli tribe, the Rizal Shrine in Dapitan City, and more! Don’t tear
your eyes off the stage just yet for we will now witness our last set of performers as they wow us
with the culture of this island we call our home. Give it up for Mindanao!
*VISAYAS PERFORMANCE*
YUMI: A breathtaking performance, wow! It was indeed a feast for our eyes! Until now, I still felt
goosebumps, nice performance there, Angelo!
ANGELO: Thank you, Yumi! Did you guys enjoy our presentation today? Can I hear a yes?
YUMI: It seems like everyone definitely enjoyed the performance that the whole block of EDA
prepared. Now, let me ask the performers, did you guys enjoy performing?
ANGELO: We all enjoyed performing, Yumi. It was a nice feeling to display our talents through
dancing, acting, and even singing while also bringing pride to our country, which is the
Philippines.
YUMI: You are right, Angelo! But despite all of that, it boils down to one thing, did Ma’am Del
enjoy our performance?
ANGELO: Let us hear her answer as we call on our beloved teacher, Mrs. Maridel Duran for her
closing remarks.
*MA’AM DEL CLOSING REMARKS*
YUMI: Thank you for the useful comments, Ma’am Del. And we really hope that you truly
enjoyed our performance as much as we enjoyed performing.
ANGELO: Our efforts and practices paid off! I can say that we all are truly EDAmazing!
YUMI: But before we wrap up this program, let me call on Ms. Maxi Fajardo for the closing
prayer to be followed by the singing of the community song.
*PRAYER AND COMMUNITY SONG*
YUMI: And that ends our program, mga binibini and ginoo! I hope our performance gave you a
blissful and wonderful morning.
ANGELO: This has been your host, Angelo Pangantihon.
YUMI: And Yumi Laye Canong. Thank you everyone for coming!
