Introduction:

The course provides an opportunity for students to explore quantitative research techniques
and issues, and to implement it effectively in the subject of Home Economics.
Objectives:
1. To give understanding of meaning and purpose of research and distinction between
educational research and other kinds of research.
2. Characteristics of scientific research and techniques of data collection and types of
analysis.

2. Types of Research; Historical and documentary; Experimental; Descriptive
3. Planning the Research Project; Purposes of Scientific research in Home Economics;
Purpose of specific research studies; Selection of the problem; Formulating and testing

4. Techniques and Tools of Data Collection; Observation; Interview; Questionnaire; Other
Techniques; Organization of personal

7. Writing the Research project; General rules for writing, format and style; Revising and

Outcomes:
